Conversation about the Catholic faith

I guess this could be considered my introduction and statement of faith. I would also like to state that I have enjoyed many conversations already in my short time on this discussion board.

While I would align my (method of worship, the route to salvation, life as a Christian) closer to what would be considered protestant tradition; I still have a deep admiration for the Catholic faith.

My belief is the only true church is the body of Christ. There are many people from every faith that are a part of that Body.

I have seen the spirit of God work through Catholics, Protestants, Pentecostals, etc etc. I have also seen people from each walk of faith be deceived. Yet the greatest work of the man I have ever seen is when a man/woman allows the spirit of God to work through them by action or word and sometimes just by example to lead others to God which in itself is a work of God through man/woman.

This I can say I have witnessed to be done by men and women of many different faiths, but all were a faith based on Jesus Christ. That is not to take away from the faith of Jewish and Islamic religion, to them I do not judge, condemn or chastise. Now, I start to take on debate when one starts to go far away into Christian Deism, Progressive Christianity and attacks on Christianity as a whole, self proclaimed routes to inner healing, self this, self that, atheism etc etc...to all of that I have issue and I will refute it with scripture and truth as long as God gives me strength to do so. As for Catholic/Protestant discussion, I would love to see more of discussion instead of debate. There is no reason why we cant embrace our differences, a Protestant can enjoy a mass and a Catholic can enjoy a bible study at a Protestant church etc etc....One example I could give is that while I think some Catholic practices concerning Saints may be overboard, I for one if ever had the chance would wash a Saints feet the minute he entered my house.
