Greetings Steemit!

It's Saturday, so that means CATURDAY! Time to roll out all your cute cat and kitten photos!

This week, I'm going a bit "retro" here with kitten photos of myself and other kittens we have known in this household.

With 2019 right around the corner, this is actually the last "Caturday" of 2018. I've had fun trying to establish #caturday as more widely used tag. I figured we needed something more than just Steemit and cryptocurrency content here!

Goals and Aspirations for 2019

It has been fun to have a "cat blog" here on Steemit, and we're planning to make 2019 pretty much "more of the above."

I had hoped to make to it to "Full Minnowhood" by the end of 2018, but since HF.20 happened, that goal pretty much went into the kitty box.

At this time, I'm just going to be content with hitting that 500SP level sometime in the course of 2019. Hopefully we can get there by mid-year... time will tell! The longshot ambition is to make it to 1000SP in 2019. Seems unlikely, but you never know!

Other stuff: I'd like to become a little more "regular" with my posting in 2019... cautiously hopeful that I can get to 500 top level posts by the end of the year. Currently at 160-something, so it's pretty ambitious!

Steemit as a Place to "Record Things"

One of the cool things about this platform is that everything we post here is written to the blockchain, as a result of which our posts are almost like a "content vault."

Even though there's lots of Important Stuff people need to record, it's also fun to think of recording the various points of a small well-loved cat's life, for long term keeping.

In the end, though, I suppose it's all a matter of what each one of us finds important, to our lives. You can tell a lot about someone from what they give importance to in their blogs, Facebook and twitter feeds.

Stats... That Really Don't Matter

A lot of people talk about their number of followers but it strikes me as one of those useless statistics of the world.

After all, what good is a follower, if they are not also a reader?

As far as I can tell, "social content" is basically about... being social. That someone can get 5,000 people to click on a "follow" link (and otherwise do nothing else) doesn't really prove a whole lot.

Does it?

Will This All Continue?

I suppose my biggest hope for 2019 is for the entire Steem community to continue and start to thrive. My concerns with venues like this tend to be about "survival." There almost always seem to be "forces" that care not one bit about sustainability, and they can easily ruin the fun for everyone else.

So my overall New Year's wish for Steemit is that it doesn't self-destruct due to bad actors or stupid decisions.
