Cats, cats and more cats, since 1990

in caturday •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hello cat lovers!!

Today I'll share a very special post that is being mentally prepared for months. I took a while searching for old photos and scanning it...and I needed time to compile it.

When I imagined this post I was thinking to share some of my cat's photos, but then I realized I would like to have a historical registry, for me and to my closest family.

As you can imagine, attending to the quality of the next photos, they were shot with an old camera and scanned for this post.
A few years ago I didn't shot several photos as I do nowadays with digital cameras.

Are you ready?!

- Smif and Skupy (1) (1990)

These were the two first cats we owned, they were both siamese. Smif was the older one and it was heavy (at least for me with only 7 years old).

Unfortunately, they faced a tragic accident and we picked two more Siameses cats (brother and sister). It was Skupy and Sheila!

- Skupy (2) and Sheila (1994)

We owned these cats for a couple of years, but I can't remember much of their personality. For example, Skupy loved to eat potato peels and Sheila was a regular cat (eat & sleep cat).

- Branquinho was special! (1994)

Branquinho, which can be translated as "White/ Whitey" (yes, he was named according to his color) was the biggest cat we had. He loved to play, steal frozen fish left to unfreeze (we didn't have a microwave) and only drank water directly from the faucet. Weird, hein!?

These three cats lived with us a couple of years, but after we moved to a new house they started to disappear slowly.

- Xaninha (1995-1996)

This was a female cat, but I only found this photo of her and can't remember what happened to her.

I think she also disappeared as the above three.

For 4-5 years we didn't own any cat, my family was devastated with losing those cats. But then I fall in love with a white cat while in university and got this beautiful female cat to live with me.

- Bianca Ariopse [2002]

Colagem sem título (3).jpg
I named her Bianca due to her color, and Ariopse because she was very prankish!! Soon I realized it was difficult to keep it with me, then I took her to my parent's house.

Do you ever seen "Black Cat White Cat" by Emir Kusturica?!

Well, I did and decided to have a black cat too!

- Pitinho [2003]

Colagem sem título (4).jpg
With 8 Kg (17lb) it was the fattest cat we had!! He almost couldn't jump, poor cat!

- The three sisters (2004)

I was so happy to find this photo!! These cats were found in the bushes and we kept three of them (females) and my grandmother took the male cat (the one on the right, so cute!).

Years have passed...and they kept with us!

Pipinha had beautiful cat 's: Didinho (2006) and Five Bros (2007)

Besides these four cats in the photo, there is also Malhado, but I won't share any photo today.

It’s a silly and irrational thing, but I decided a few years ago that I would stop posting my beloved pets photos on Facebook or any other medium because it was bringing me bad luck. After a short time of posting their photos, something terrible would happen to that pet that led to their death.

I know one day I’ll write a huge post for him because he’s the last one of these 5 brothers.

Here are some of the many many photos I have!

Now we only own two cats, Malhado and Risquinhas. Hope I will only write about them in many years from now!!

This is my first submission to Caturday. Hope you also liked to know my first pets!

Have a great weekend!!

Oh my so many kitties! All so pretty :D
But I love Cinzentinho... just like Suzi!

I noticed here in Portugal there is lots of stray Siamese cats. We don't have that in Poland. Mostly tabbies and black and white ones. Suzi had Siamese siblings too even thought their mum is a mic of everything :p

And my neighbor has a black kitty and a white one - like you had. I see them sitting at the window sill sometimes.

I do hope you will not have to write about your kitties any time soon! (Though I would love to see them)

Thanks!! :D
Yes, Cinzentinho was special, as Pipinho too! Probably I feel this way because i had the chance to be with them during their youth and shot tons of photos while they were playing.

Yes, a few years ago Siamese cats were the most popular breed, as tabbies and black ones.
Hope not, but I'll not try my (their) luck. But to let you know, Malhado is a black and white one and Risquinhas a tabbie cat. Nothing fancy! :)

They are all cute no matter the colour of fur :)

I very much enjoyed reading and looking at your cat chronology photo album. I can tell each one was very much loved and holds special place in your heart! That is strange how something bad would happen after you posted a pic on Facebook. Best to play it safe as they say. I am many years older than you and have loved quite a few doggies through the years (had kitties too as a child but only dogs consistently through the years). You've inspired me to want to find photos of as many as I can. Thank you @liliana.duarte Here's a little tip!🐈❤🐈

Thank you so much for your kind reply!! This is what I love on Steemit, getting someone else inspired! I found my inspiration on a post shared by @mammasita some weeks/months ago! Guess I should have mentioned that on the post, but totally forgot about it!

São lindos @liliana.duarte!!

Obrigada minha querida!

I always think a cat.....or several cats, makes a house feel more like a home. Thank you for sharing your history of cats. I'm so sorry several of them met with tragic ends. When our little animal friends suffer, we suffer. I hope Malhado and Risquinhas will have all nine of their lives and live to be very old, happy kitties!

Those two have 10 and 9 years old (respectively) and already spent some of their seven lives (here we say it's seven, but I prefer your 9 version).

That was a wonderful trip down your cat history. So many I lost count.

I also felt the same when writing the post, and almost forgetting to share some of them!! Ahah :)

those are some great cats!!

Wow!!!!!! Amazing post !!!! you did a great job !!!! it was very interesting to learn about the cats that lived with you! it is really very difficult to lose a beloved animal - this is a great tragedy. photos are wonderful!

When they disappear it's easier to deal because I believe they went looking for a new owner and are happy in another place. But facing their death...it was always a huge loss!
Thanks!

Yes it is!

I'm melting !!!! So much cuteness!!
