this crazy Idaho painter here on home improvement tattoos today we're going to give you five tips to paint ceilings like a professional minute and do them fast we're going to be blowing these ceilings with it tonight on an 18 inch roller you can either spray them with an airless sprayer or roll-on just for reasons here on this situation would be more than today they're gonna be removing the carpets I don't need to put any drop cost down to stay tuned for this video to see how we roll these ceilings and make them look like professional video here we go so the first step in rolling these ceilings really fast we're gonna be using an 18 inch roller and you have the option of using an 18 inch or a 9 inch you don't want to be looking up with these ceilings preparing on some of these spraying them are rolling up with an 18 inch roller this is a contractor white woven roller we like to roll our ceilings with a 3/8 times roller nap so this is all about speed get them fast got the Pens over here I'm using a 5-gallon can with this 18 inch floor you could show me they'll bring that and they're done I'll show what this can looks like this is a really large band of bullaiah definitely want to have a big pan that's gonna hold a lot of pains and this is a five-gallon pan 18 is lower tip number one for speed so tip number two in rolling these ceilings really fast we want to get the edges done the very first thing because we want to be able to roll our walls and go up the wall and you are cutting so that's the drive first when we're using a special blower that the roller rolls over the edges right here and you've got the lamp or the fuzz on the edge of the roller so somebody's running around with this 19 inch roller and doing all the edges first and it goes really fast when it's hecka roller so check this out we're gonna show you what this looks like so enrolling these edges up here here's a roll all loaded up it's got the NAP or length all the way wrapped around the edges and it makes it really simple do the exact see up here we've already rolled it and it gets mighty Mills edges nice and easy it fills the land quick and fast just like that this thing is awesome it's a new roller side guy just created here recently we got sent a whole box up of itself and they work great so this is one thing's gonna save you a lot of time so tip number three is using the proper product we like to use the dead flat paint when it comes to painting the ceilings and Heights imperfections a lot better judges shall light glare and then it doesn't show the flashing or roller that marks like a satin or semi-gloss or even as HL paint does so definitely use the flat plate wherever you can there's situations where you probably shouldn't be using a flat paint like an about thing or a kitchen but 99% of time or if you're using a flat paint it's just going to make your ceilings look a lot better there's a lot of products out there use them really good make sure it's dead flower so tip number four is rolling your ceilings laying them out and Loan in the proper direction so check this out John here he's rolling the ceiling right here with our 18 inch nap and there's certain things you want to take into consideration when you boil your ceiling so that look like a professional minute one is the direction you roll the paint and then how you actually lay it out so John we're going to so let's see John you're rolling the ceilings now and you're laying it out up there won't you tell us your why you're all at the direction you're rolling it and how to go about laying it out two things you want to think about where the light is coming from and you want to think about where a person or a guest is going to be predominantly stand even seeing the ceiling so a room like this we've got light coming on the south side and we've got light coming in on the east side what we want to do is we want to roll against the the length of this room so that when someone's coming in from the door on the east side they're looking this way they're not seeing that light flashing across the wall marks they're less likely to see the light and then how do you go about laying it out you're going to be painting it up here on the ceiling and I think yo you got to lay it out instead of just rolling it and all random directions you're gonna get it on there and laid out work my way down to keep a wet edge so like this ceiling I'll split it into three chunks up to one chunk that's about four feet by four feet the same direction because you want that stippling to all be going the same way so that you don't cast different looking shadows one way or the other cool so this is the entrance to this room right now I'm standing at the door entrance we've got windows right here they're gonna be casting and natural light and the door behind me is a glass door and this is where people enter in and so you can see we're rolling the direction is going across ways instead of lengthwise so we've toes that direction cuz of the natural lighting we'll walk into this other room here and we'll show you another scenario so we're this is the entrance of this office right here we've got a window right there so this room right here instead of running and laying out the ceiling coming towards me to the entrance of this door we're gonna run it across so it's going to be running from corner to corner right there and if you're gonna less likely see lap marks or flashing when you're spraying you run it that direction this room right here has no windows no doors or has a door but no windows and we're gonna be running it instead of lengthwise coming to me we're gonna be running it from this corner to that corner crosswise so tip number five debating your ceilings and making them look like a professional minute we like to paint the vents and any type of lights can I think so they match the ceilings a lot of times these the vents lights and any type of fixtures gener mounted into the ceilings that yellow over time will look kind of old and dingy and even if they're brand new it looks a lot better if they match and blend in with the ceiling so what we do is typically they're metal and they're high gloss will take a bob can of primer can be used like an extreme bonding primer and we'll spray those things went well with all the ceilings strength out of body primer so run rocks sway those with a bonding primer and then we take a handheld airless sprayer it will go around and spray on with our flat spray paint or flat wall paint that we'd be rolling on if you're strangers in its width in Illustrator and you don't have to worry about getting out of hand help but the handouts are really really convenient when it comes to spreading these ceilings we're gonna be going on we get a lot better get a lot better finishing it boy it looks a lot nicer same with the walls so this is an important office building right here rolling them want those bends really good so we're spraying them with a hand towel we're done Lawrence we're going to spray spray the bed spray the lights and this we're going to come in and roll and cut in around it too so we don't have any overspray flashing so that's tip number five so there you have it five tips to painting the ceiling like a professional finish hopefully you've enjoyed this video please give me a thumbs up please consider
