Introducing Peter Thiel - one of the greatest minds of our time and an honest provocateur

A few years ago I discovered Peter Thiel. Many of his ideas are very revealing to me, but it wasn't so much that I felt my world shoock, but rather that he was able to formulate ideas in an extensive manner that I felt I had somewhere in the back of my head as well. He also has some completely new approaches and ideas that I find really inspiring.

"Tell me something is that is true that very few people agree with you on" - Peter Thiel

Is something he gives as advice for founders of new companies, but I think it is actually a rule that I followed in philosophy and politics all my life. The thoughts I have that many disagree on were always much more important to me than the discussion of opinions that were widely agreed with.

Thiel focuses a lot on economics and technology, but you can also find comments on society and politics made by him.

One concept that he advocates, that I have adopted and often run into backlash with:

We live in a world of technological stagnation apart from maybe digital technologies. He explains his statement in detail in the following video. My reaction to his statement was "damn he is right!" - I always love to point out how much innovation 'back to the future' promised - but I think there might be a lot of you who disagree, so maybe I will make a post in the future explaining on detail why I think he is right on this statement.

If you have not figured it out by now, he also identifies as a Libertarian.

What do you think of this man and his ideas? To me he is one of the few inspirational Philosophers of our modern age.

I am a Peter Thiel fan also! He wrote a great book for entrepreneurs, investors and economists called "Zero to One". The book is based on a Stanford class he has thought and there are awesome notes from it available to read online.

Thanks for the link, mate. I thought about buying it but I am not a big book person, so having it in snippets on the web is actually quite handy for me.

Cześć Piotr and welcome to Steemit btw.

Sorry if I assumed wrong nationality :D

I didn't know him. Thanks for bringing him to my attention!!

you are very welcome, I think Thiel brings a lot of interesting ideas to the table. His way of rationalizing our modern world sometimes reminds me a little of Machiavelli, but it is often very important to describe the things as you see them and not how you want them to be.
