Proverbs 19:15 - Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.

For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
Idleness is a dangerous sickness that is capable of reducing people to nothingness. Idleness, when allowed to operate, creates an open door for other sins to manifest. little wonder the Scripture severally warns against idleness
According to our text, Apostle Paul discovered that there was something amiss among some Thessalonian brethren and he decided to address it in his second epistle to them. Some of them we're living in idleness and Paul commander the faithful brethren to keep away from them. He said that should follow the example of diligence he showed them. Paul though an apostle was also a tent-maker. He worked very hard to provide for himself and also support his ministry. He was not a burden to anyone. And as such he did not tolerate idleness
Solomon also warned against idleness and mentioned its devastating effect on someone's life. According to him, idleness brings poverty and chains people potentials. Indeed there are several reasons why Christians should not live in idleness

An idle mind ,they say ,is the devil's workshop. When someone is lden, negative thoughts are likely to flash into his mind.
Gossiping is one of the products of idleness. Stealing may result due to idleness. Fornication and adultery are more prevalent among idle people
Borrowing, which may not be easily paid back, is one of the problems of idleness, etc all these negative attitude when they are present in ones life, the results is bad
