Today I will be talking about the siberian tiger. The siberian tiger is found mainly in the Amir river basin of Russia far east. They once roamed korea, northern china, Mongolia, and as far west as lake Barkal in Russia.
These tigers use their unique individual scent as a means of recognition for each other. This allows the male to seek out females when it is time to mate. After mating, the tigress is capable of giving birth to two or three cubs at a time. These cubs are born blind and squirming. The cubs do not purr as is seen in kittens, rather they softly growl as the feed on milk from their mother . They feed on this milk for their first give to six months, after which they begin to accompany their mother on hunting trips. They follow this routine through until they are 18months old. After getting to the age of 18months, they can now begin to hunt independent on their mother. They can chose to stay with their mother for up to 2yrs after which they can now leave and secure a territory for themselves.

The Siberian tiger is sometimes thought to be the largest cat. In the wild, males may weigh about 27kg and reach a length of more than 3metres, with its tail included. The Siberian cat is exceeded in size by the liger, the offspring of a lion and a tigress. Ligers may grow to exceed the 3metres length and can weigh over 500kg.The liger is bred in zoos and is rarely,if ever found in the wild.

The tigers are equipped with thick fit, and it's huge feets are passed with fur that serve as snowshoe.
Their furs have a pattern of dark stripes on Orange fur. These stripes patterns are unique for each tiger as such can be used as a means of identity just as fingerprints are unique for every humans and koalas.

The skull of the siberian tiger is similar in size to that of a lion which is large. The only difference in their skulls is the structure of their lower jaws and the relative position of their narsals.

THE SIBERIAN TIGER THREATENED
For a tiger to survive, there has to be enough food which implies there has to be preys such as deers, elks, and boars. In recent times lumber companies from other countries have been involved with the cutting down of forest trees. When trees disappear so also will the animals like;feets, board and elks disappear thereby leading to unavailability of food for tigers and hence they too will also disappear.
SAVING THE SIBERIAN TIGER
The Russian government have set up reserves with the utilities needed for the survival of the tigers in order to check their decline in population. However, any tiger that strays, out of the reserve is at its own risk as they can get killed and their parts such as feet, bones and pelts are of high value. Local inhabitants in siberia have also put in great efforts to save these tigers and as a consequence they have made a modest recovery. A recent census held in 2015 showed that between 480-540 tigers are still in siberia with their cubs included. A more recent survey showed that there are 562 wild siberians still in Russia. It is also in record that there are more than 500 siberian tigers in zoos around the world. In order to grow the population, scientists have suggested that these tigers kept in zoos be released into the wild.
