STEEMCHURCH: Understanding the Parables of Jesus

in celestialchallenge •  7 years ago

Hello my dear brothers of our celestial church, I am going about a special topic in the Bible, which is only part of the language of Jesus, who with his parables manifested teachings for those who are dedicated and willing to serve the gospel, those who are not dedicated to the service of God, do not understand or misinterpret in their own way these teachings that remained in the scriptures of the bible.

A parable is, on the other hand, the story of a fictional event that allows a message of moral content to be transmitted through an analogy, a comparison or a similarity. The parables are stories of didactic intention that are based on a view on the world that is credible.

The parable, in this way, seeks to promote notions associated with the spirit through the expression of activities that are simple and in which it does not go too deep. They resemble, in this sense, the fables.

The parables are also, finally, a set of short stories that are attributed to Jesus Christ and that promote the teaching of religious and moral content.

It is interesting to note that the parables were previously used in the Old Testament (2 Samuel 12: 1-4, Isaiah 5: 1-6, 28: 24-28). They were also used in Jewish literature of the first century.

But "the only professor of parables in the New Testament is Christ himself. The epistles, although they often used rhetorical allegories and similes, did not use parables at all, so common in the pedagogical methods of Christ. The distribution of these in the canonical gospels is unequal, and they are strictly limited to the three synoptic gospels, [Matthew, Mark and Luke] ".

Why did Jesus use parables?

Many people think that Jesus spoke in parables to simplify his message - so that it could be easily understood by everyone. Although Christ said the opposite.

Having been questioned by his disciples about why he used these comparisons of normal events with spiritual truths, he said: "For it is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven; but they are not given to them "(Matthew 13:11).

Jesus added: "Therefore I speak to you in parables: because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear nor understand" (v. 13).

Jesus told his disciples: "Blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, because they hear "(v. 16). For those who have been called by God the Father (John 6:44, 65), the parables reveal deep spiritual truths. In this way, the parables of Jesus may well reveal and hide.

What most people do not know today is that God's plan to allow human beings to understand His Word and receive salvation takes place at different times or different periods of time. Put simply, this is not the only day of salvation.

The interpretation of the parables

Since the main theme of the parables is the Kingdom of God, we must bear in mind that the comparisons that are made are to represent principles related to his coming Kingdom. Since the details of a parable have a spiritual meaning, we must let Christ be the one to interpret them or allow other passages of the Scriptures to guide our understanding. It would be an error of interpretation to assume that the parables introduce new doctrines that are not found elsewhere in the Bible or that allow some unethical behavior (as in the parable of the unjust steward Luke 16: 1-8). Establishing doctrines through a parable is especially important when interpreting the parable of the rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16: 19-31). For an explanation of this parable that is congruent with other biblical passages, see "Lazarus and the Rich."

Although Christ did not invent the parable, it is significant that he is the only one who uses parables in the new testament. At one point in his ministry, it was his only method of speaking to the crowds (Mt 13:34). It is interesting to observe when Christ began to use this methodology. So abrupt was the change in his teaching that his disciples asked him why he did it (Mt 13:10). It was an effective method to reveal the truth to the spiritual and willing mind, while hiding it from others (Mt 13:11).

So brothers the only way to understand the word of God and the parable of Jesus is to be in touch with his word.
