DailyCelestialChallenge Sunday = Light

Hello Steemitanos friends, this is my entry to the #DailyCelestialChallenge contest, hosted by @sirknight. For today Sunday/Light

Sunlight seems white, but it is composed of light rays of different colors. As the rays of light pass through a prism, they scatter and separate into a series of colored bands and each one deviates as a different angle. This phenomenon is called the visible light spectrum. It is formed by colors ranging from red, orange, yellow, green, blue, to violet.

When light illuminates an object, part of the colors are absorbed and others reflected. In case it looks white it is because it is reflecting all the colors and it is not absorbing any. When you see green it is because it is absorbing all colors, except green. The white light is a mixture of all the colors of the rainbow.

The color of sunlight varies according to the time, the smog in the atmosphere, and the latitude and longitude of the place.

The reason why we see, is because in the eye there are visual cells called chronographs and rods in charge of capturing the intensity and frequency of luminosity; This signal is sent to the brain. This visual system is only able to detect a small part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Isaac Newton conducted experiments with light and showed that white light was not pure, but that all colors were contained in it. He built a disc in which appeared the colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet; when spinning that disk generates a white surface.

PROPERTIES OF LIGHT
Light travels in a straight line interacting with atoms and molecules present in the atmosphere and other objects. These interactions give rise to phenomena such as:

• Reflection: it happens when light travels in a medium and faces a second illuminated or bright medium, where it affects and reflects. Smooth surfaces such as mirrors are the best reflectors, rough surfaces are bad reflectors because the particles on their surface have different projections; so the light is reflected in different directions.

• Refraction: it is the change in the direction of the light when going through one medium to another; for example when it passes from air to water or glass. This is observed when the light travels through a transparent medium and finds a limit that leads it to another transparent medium; part of the ray of light is reflected and part enters the second half. This can be demonstrated when a pencil is placed inside a glass with water, observing the pencil folded on the surface of the water. During refraction, the incident ray and the reflected ray are in the same direction .
