I'm so glad that the first dish I wrote, received attention from the community here.
As some Steemians expressed their interest to learn about Nasi Lemak's recipe, there you have it.
Ingredients:
1 cup of rice
75ml of coconut milk
Pandan leaves (Preferable 2 tied in knots as shown in picture below)
1 lemon grass
1 egg
Cucumber in slices
Anchovies
Peanuts
Sambal
The MAGIC Steps:
- Put the rice in a rice cooker. Add 2 cups of water into the rice. Always remember the golden ratio 1:2.
- Dilute the coconut milk with some water, about 30ml before adding into the rice.
- Don't forget to add pandan leaves and lemon grass too as they give the rice a nice aroma.
- While waiting for the rice to cook, time to fry peanuts and anchovies till golden brown.
- Wait for about 10 minutes after the rice has been cooked before serve.
Hope you enjoy this recipe and try it out at home.
Some banana leaves to plate with would be nice but optional. As for basic presentation, you can plate as the picture above with sambal on top of rice. You could easily buy readily made sambal at any Asian grocery but if you want to know how to make home made sambal, do tell me in the comment section below.
As a Malaysian, I eat Nasi Lemak like once a week.
