Steemit down, chainBB up and running smoothly. ChainBB>Steemit Classic confirmed?

in chainbb •  8 years ago  (edited)

Well, Im not to used to use ChainBB when I looked into 2 days ago it was prty unstable. In general I prefer the ChainBB layout, I wished it had all the function of the parent site Steemit...

Edit: having said that chainBB didnt save my tags and I had to refresh page to finish the loading process after post...

Beautiful :) it's a more zoomed in view and way more organized but it lacks the perspective steemit has with the smaller scale

The tree view on the conversations and being able to collapse part of the comments is one of the big assets classic has over chainBB. I think I will end up using both.

I almost never collapse discussions on steemit, simply because if I reload the page and a new comment was posted in that part, I would never see it.

I just hate it when people have a back and forth picture wars in the comment section. So I want to collapse stuff like that. But its also easier to see who is in convo with who, especially in a crowded post.

Hah totally understandable. They take up far far too much space :)

I've seen the issue with posts not loading as well (after you create a new one). I'll be taking a look at that soon.

As for the missing features - it's just me building it right now, so it'll take some time to match what the steemit.com team has built over the last year :)

lol my comment just glitched really hard (writing on classic).

You are Jesters smurf right? I rly appreciate what you are doing with chainBB it gives us a lot more opportunity to sort for content. I would already use it if I could filter for new. I think posts are sorted by hot as default.

I wish you good success, Im looking forward to use chainBB on a regular basis and not just in case of classic crash ;)

Thanks! Glad you're finding it useful :)

I dug around and it looks like both steemit.com and steemd.steemit.com (the API steemit and chainbb both use) are experiencing heavy load, which is causing things to process very, very slowly.

The fix for this delay (at least for chainbb) is for me to pony up and buy a big powerful server to run my own API on, and then point chainbb to that.

yeah i got really strange glitch preventing me from commenting for a few minutes. Something about block age. I can post a screenshot of the error message if you are interested

Looks like the network issues have started to resolve themselves, things are appearing pretty quick again.

I've added a status message that will appear at the top of chainBB (in a yellow box) whenever these network issues start occurring.

Actually yes this looks grand indeed and so clean and stylish :D 4 colors all neatly organized

Upon further investigation, it looks like the steemd node I'm connecting to is having connection problems. That'll hopefully be resolved soon.
