After an audit from ChainSecurity, ETHEREUM hardfork CONSTANTINOPLE has been halt due to minor security flaw yesterday January 15,2019. It seems this is very similar as back in the day when ETHEREUM fork and ETHEREUM CLASSIC was created.
This has created a panic between ETHEREUM holders and price has decrease around 10% since the announcement, not that much, ETHEREUM supporters are very passionate about the project there are some hard core followers of this project. The Security Flaw: It has been state that his is a none-zero risk but there is a diminutive possibility of a reentracy attack , in an essence this would allow an attacker to reenter the same instruction as many times as he wants without updating the user, this can end up either sending multiple withdraw instructions to a contract or even between contracts without a notification of it, as a result all funds gone and nobody get a notification of funds withdraw.
Will this affect you: This will only affect those who run the ETHEREUM node, if you are holding ETHEREUM or use it to transact there is nothing to do or fear. Those who run a node or are either mining ETHEREUM will have to update your GETH and Parity Instances when the new code is release. As we explain before on previous CONSTANTINOPLE article mayor software and hardware wallets will support the fork and will advice how to proceed with updates, refer to their official websites.
