Chakra Explained - Spirituality

Think of the 7 chakras like an energy creek that flows like water. Since life is messy things tend to fall into this creek and we then create 7 chakra ponds because of the blockage. The goal is to remove each blockage from each pond so that the energy can flow forming our natural creek.

(1st Chakra)
Muladhara which by definition means “root” and “support”, represents our Root Chakra.

When the Root Chakra is open, you are flowing with a sense of security, abundance of trust, and inherent understanding of survival. When the Root Chakra is closed, you have no foundation in which to open the other 6 chakras inside you and may live a more stressful day to day life style.

To help open your Root Chakra you want to have a connection with some sort of higher power. Rather you call it mother nature, consciousness, God, or spirit. This trust in a higher power and yourself will give you what you need to feel safe in this world.

(2nd Chakra)
Svadhisthana which by definition means one’s own abode or seat / sweetness, represents our Sacral Chakra.

When the Sacral Chakra is open, you are flowing with a sense of wellness, abundance, pleasure, joy, creativity, and an overall understanding of pleasure. When the Sacral Chakra is closed, you will experience emotional instabilities, fear of change, sexual dysfunction, depression, or addictions.

To help open your sacral chakra you want to let go of all guilt and forgive yourself. Be okay with failure and mistake and understand this is a part of life. Once you’re at peace with this you will be able to be a positive influence on those around you.

(3rd Chakra)

When the Solar Plexus Chakra is open, you are flowing with a will to succeed, self-confident, have a strong sense of purpose, and are self-motivated. When the Solar Plexus Chakra is closed, this will lead you to suffer from low self-esteem, have difficulty making decisions, and may have anger or control issues.

To help open your Solar Plexus Chakra you want to set clear goals, desires, and intentions, so you can move forward to achieve them. You also want to accept and love all aspects of yourself, mistakes as well.

(4th Chakra)
Anahata which by definition means unhurt and unbeaten, represents our Heart Chakra.

When the heart chakra is open, you are flowing with love and affection, you are merciful, and you have acceptance for others and yourself. When the heart chakra is closed, you are trapped with sorrow, hostility, envy, fear of betrayal, and hatred for others and yourself.

To help open your heart chakra you want to practice : meditation, breathing techniques, be open with your emotions, stop clinging to your feelings, and practice acceptance (being at peace with the things you cannot control in life)

(5th Chakra)
Vishudda which by definition means “especially pure”, represents our Throat Chakra.

When the Throat Chakra is open, you are flowing with the ability to speak, listen, and express yourself from a higher form of communication. This allows you to verbalize your needs, desires, and opinions so that you’re better able to determine how to be truthful to yourself and others. When the Throat Chakra is closed, you struggle with the fear of not being accepted and judgment from others which can hinder your truthful verbal expression.

To help open your Throat Chakra you want release your denial and lies you tell yourself; also you want to try being conscious of the conversations you don't have with others due to not wanting them to be upset or judgemental of you (example : a mother in law who you don't get along with but fear telling your wife this because you believe it may cause I rift in the relationship). Do this out loud or write it down to practice the affirmations of truth. The more we practice the more we know what to expect from those conversation which also creates confidence!

(6th Chakra)
Anja which by definition means beyond wisdom, represents our Third Eye Chakra.

When the Third Eye chakra is open, you are flowing with clairvoyance, telepathy, lucid dreaming, expanded imagination, and visualization. Just like animals have a sense of natural disasters, humans have that intuitive sense within themselves too. When the Third Eye chakra is closed, you have limited awareness because you can only rely on your 5 senses (sight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell). To help open your Third Eye chakra you want to first start off with relinquishing the illusion that most things are separate and different. Also use this great breathing technique called Brahmari or the bee breath. Bring both hands to your face. Place the two middle fingers over your eyes. Allow the index fingers to rest on the eyebrow line and the pinky fingers under the cheekbones. Close your ears with your thumbs. Take a deep inhalation and exhale the word AUM with the emphasis on the “M” sound while creating a buzzing sound like a bee. Do this for two minutes or more

(7th Chakra)
Sahasrara which by definition means “the realization that you are pure awareness” or lotus of a thousand petals, represents our Crown Chakra

When the Crown Chakra is open, you are flowing with enlightenment and a spiritual connection to all that is. You gain a connection to your higher self, to every being on the planet, and ultimately the divine energy that creates everything in the universe. When the Crown Chakra is closed, you are confined to the physical body, the ego, mind, and current intellect.

To help open your Crown Chakra you want to practice meditation, prayer, and daily silence which will lead to increased moments of spiritual connection. These are the only means by which you will experience the essence of Sahaswara. Just as you would go to school for hours a day and study for exams to obtain a degree, meditation, prayer, and silence are your studies to obtain a spiritual degree. You must also release all your earthly attachments; let go of all you’ve grown to love (this is commonly the hardest chakra to open because of this). Once you’re able to you will finally have complete control of all your thoughts and actions.
