A period of natural convulsions during which a very large portion of the human race will perish. Earthquakes of great severity, enormous tidal waves seem to be the agents. War appears only in the early stages and appears to be a signal for the crisis to follow. The crisis will come in an instant. The destruction and dislocation of civilized life will be beyond belief. There will be a short period of chaos followed by some reconstruction; the total period of upheavals will be roughly three years. The chief centers of disturbance will be the Eastern Mediterranean basin, where not less than five countries will entirely disappear. Also in the Atlantic there will be a rise of land which will be a cause of those waves which will bring about great disasters upon the Americans, the Irish and Western European shore, involving all the low-lying British coasts. There are indicated further great upheavals in the southern Pacific and in the Japanese region. Mankind can be saved by returning to its spiritual values.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859 - 1930)
CHAPTER 1
When I think about whether I’ve made any memorable contributions to this world I usually wind up wondering, “Who will speak of me in a mere one hundred years?” The answer causes me to conclude that my presence within the “big picture” is faint at best. I am awed by societies in general and by the excavations, structures and superstructures that all of the human beings have accomplished. If I do only what is expected of me I will remain powerless to do anything other than take what life gives me. As a member of what is commonly called the silent majority I find that I feel sad for not having made a significant mark with my existence -- thus in anger I have chosen to rename the silent majority.
I think that the unheard-of majority living within great civilizations at the height of their power probably share this feeling of lack of consequence. This subconscious acceptance of inferiority and a need to believe that there is order rather than chaos causes us to form general beliefs. Those whose theories perpetuate popular belief become politically correct experts. When the unheard-of majority is presented with predictions for the future differing from what they face in their daily lives, they will likely respond with mocking humor because they take for granted that the politically correct experts are speaking truths. Therefore, I expect my forecast for the world’s immediate future and my solution (both of which are outlined in this book) will be considered humorous by many. But, I bid of you to temporarily transcend what you’ve learned current rational reality to be.
While you are reading my story, I ask that you bring to the task both your intellect and soul. Beyond the physical make-up of our bodies there is a unifying force that animates us beyond breathing organisms into thinking, feeling whole individuals. There is some sort of space, some sort of undiscovered extra dimensional energy that is our essence, that is our guiding force. Many of us believe that in the spiritual realm we are connected. In our earthly existence we sometimes feel isolated, yet I believe we are linked together by a cobweb of energy…it carries the connectedness we feel when interacting with living beings. I also think great wisdom may travel along these gossamer highways and this wisdom is available to us all. Learning to trust this intuition is difficult because it’s intangible. Human beings are conditioned to suppress feelings and are taught to make decisions based on precedents set in a four-dimensional world existence.
Our intellect is capable of denying any wisdom our sixth-sense tells us is correct. While we are proud of our intellect, we are easily manipulated. Provide an intellect with an illusion of fact and it will form a new belief. Advertising agencies use this strategy to benefit their clients. Propaganda is the oldest tool in the book to promote specific ideas and further causes.
An important lesson to learn in life is how to overcome a childhood of minding our Ps and Qs. Our conditioning begins very early in our lives. We are told what we should do for our own benefit. For instance, we are guided to become a lawyer because lawyers make good money; or we take the easy road and follow in our father’s footsteps using his contacts to secure an easily attained position. We may have fallen prey to the idea that happiness is attached to owning material things and spend a lifetime accumulating goods. Living these scenarios, it is possible to become successful yet be miserable. This is not to say that every lawyer or every person who followed in his father’s footsteps or anyone who is driven to collect equity is miserable. But if you have suppressed personal goals and desires to achieve another’s ambition, your success may be empty and unrewarding.
I am reminded of a friend who shared a moment of insight into his life. This friend said that he was exposed to his father’s belief that providing a big house for the family was the ultimate achievement. During his first twenty years of life, he was witness to his dad’s driven pursuit to accomplish this goal. After finishing college, he found himself following in his father’s footsteps and, together with his wife, began an eleven-year quest to acquire a large house. Shortly after finding himself the proud owner of a sprawling home, he said he felt “hollow.” With his mission accomplished and no other goal in sight, he realized “material possessions are not what defines a person.” He said he felt “miserable” and “lost.” But those aren’t feelings; I think he was more likely sad and scared. He had developed by example a belief that was not his own.
Recently two events have collided to give me an example with which many women will be able to relate. The first event came while watching Oprah. I like Oprah because as I exercise getting in touch with my spirit I look for soul-touchéing experiences and encourage myself to really feel what is going on inside me. Oprah and her crew are particularly adept at presenting situations that pierce me in just the right way. I know when my soul has been touchéed because my eyes well up and the feelings inside me become intensely beautiful. This is taking a lot of practice because my natural response is to repress tears, which shuts off the emotions causing them – I think its probably tied to the “big boys don’t cry” lessons. The lessons have reached beyond cuts and bruises to deaden my ability to feel joy. This particular show was about women whose lives were abruptly altered. One day they were happy housewives, the next, their husbands informed them they were headed for divorce court. The stories were sad and later turned to triumph. A good show but not extraordinary for me.
The second event provided clarity of the show’s significance and has resulted in this last minute addition to my book. The relevance is based in tradition. It’s a traditional practice to teach little girls to become women who are reliant on men while raising children and cleaning the house. Certainly this is an honorable behaviour (this statement is designed to soothe the reaction of the fully indoctrinated to my next statement) but it can also leave a woman feeling empty and unrewarded if it’s at the expense of her own nurturing or the boundaries of her reality are suddenly expanded.
After dropping off my children at their daycare, I entered into a conversation with one of the other parents on our way out. We discussed the rigors of being single parents and other aspects of our lives. She discussed the course in Web Design she was taking, which led to my discussing the website for this book and some problems we were having reducing the file size. She wound up offering to help Shauna and I with our JPG problem.
During the conversation it came out that she initiated a separation with her husband. It seems he couldn’t stop her from breaking free of her traditional role once the children were in daycare. But he wasn’t very supportive. He liked things the way they were so he kept them that way even though it wasn’t long before her salary matched his salary. He stuck to his routine of watching television after work. After her work she was still expected to care for the children, do her housework and do for him what indoctrinated husbands expect of their wives. She mentioned that replacing the sex was easy. It seems to me other than a small portion of the family income she’s not missing much else.
She was very bubbly and excited about this direction she chose and followed. Her eyes were lit with the flame of enthusiasm. She is a perfect example of what I am trying to explain. Indeed all of the women from the Oprah show although they started as victims wound up with similar triumphs. It is not the breaking up of families that is to be applauded here. It is the honoring of the human spirit that needs our awareness; and if that comes at the cost of an unhealthy marriage I say, so be it. I think the guys dumped those women because they found them dull and unexciting. Each of these women became exciting and attractive when their spirits were nurtured. My guess is what drove all of these relationships apart is the boundaries of traditional role – the suppressor of souls.
Tradition also teaches us that for the children’s sake we should keep the matrimonial home together at all costs. Yet the highest cost is paid by the children growing up as witnesses to the shriveling of a soul conforming to archaic rules. Children will be better served by observing a soul soaring, reaching for its full potential.
To answer questions like: Why do we feel sad and scared? Why are we miserable and lost? The answer can be found in these stories. The answer is that humanity has developed in such a way, children are taught that traditional roles and material things are more important than nurturing their divine spiritual individuality. Indeed all of us form belief systems from examples set during childhood. Some are good and some are not so good. My friend and I met in a program called Family of Origin: a venue where participants from twenty to seventy meet to discover what is missing in their lives.
Our spirits feel sad and scared because they are not included in our intellectually developed belief system. The intellect thinks it feels miserable and lost, yet it doesn’t know why. It doesn’t know that while it created a plan for its life with all its attention to detail, it forgot to include an integral part of the being it represents.
One might think religion is there to nurture the spirit; but I’m afraid religion, too, teaches us to conform to the group rather than nurturing an individual to observe all that our existence has to offer and to absorb what feels right, then to pursue a path of their soul’s choosing.
I have pursued many avenues in my life and all of them were guided by a single focus, to make lots of money for me. I’ve been trying to accomplish my adopted belief: “Happiness will come after I possess all of the toys that I want.” All the while a suppressed part of me was whispering to pursue the direction that this book will take me. After years of persistent whispers, the multiple memories of whispers seemed to unite with those in the present and produced a haunting chorus that I could finally no longer ignore. Writing this book has cost me money, and so far it’s been materially unrewarding. It is the opposite of what I previously sought. However, it has provided me with some of the most sublime moments of joy in my life; joy that my old belief said “shouldn’t be here yet.”
The effect on my life has been positive, powerful and truly spiritual. I think I’m finally on track; my feelings on what I’ve accomplished tell me so. This is proof that the most important guidance we will receive in life will come from that quiet yearning within. When we pursue our true “inner-calling,” our reward, as humble as it may be, is joy. In the present, I am developing a new belief and that is that joy is the most rewarding experience in life. I’m not talking about the happiness of buying a new car. I’m referring to the joy that touchés your soul you so deeply that your eyes well up with tears, as for instance, when I was handed my children for the first time. These experiences are completely separate from our intellect. When I am touched so profoundly my intellect is aware of it, yet it is somewhat shocked regarding the high level of emotional response to the situation. TV programs that show family reunions after years of separation also elicit those profound feelings in me. I discussed this once with a counselor and he said that the situations are touching my own story of separation from my mother at an early age. He may be partly right but given the across-the-board success of these shows, I think the situations travel into us along the gossamer highway and touch our souls.
Everyone has heard from this spiritual center. As reflected by my writing experience, I think this source is constantly chattering to us, telling us what we need to do for ourselves. We either listen to or deny the whisperings or feelings that are produced. I also think we have an ability to tap into a collective spiritual wisdom, which also communicates to us through the spirit we tend to isolate -- to subdue, with our easily swayed intellects -- by denying any validity to the senses emitted from that source of our being. I ask that you pay particular attention to what your inner senses are telling you about the theory in this book, because your intellect has been so thoroughly taught what to expect of life, and expectations are extremely fallible.
Recently there has been a great deal of interest in a book called the Celestine Prophecy. I talked with many people who read the book and were confused as to whether it was based on fact or was completely fictitious. When dealing with intangibles like James Redfield did with coincidences in the Celestine Prophecy, it is easier to write about it as fiction. To me his story is obviously a work of fiction, yet his fictional story caused me to take a look at the coincidences in my life. I found the appearance of coincidence yielded to the possibility that coincidental situations could in actuality be a guiding hand from Providence. Proof that Providence does guide us with coincidence would also prove the existence of the gossamer highways to which I have alluded. These highways have the ability to alert us to an awareness that will remain non-understandable to our intellects.
I do not align myself with, nor limit my understanding of, the Higher Power to any single doctrine of worship. I think human will is all to apparent in these books, especially the bias each of the established doctrines share that their way of worshipping the Higher Power is the right way and all other paths are dangerous to our soul’s well being. Several experiences in my life lead me to believe Sacred Mystery exists. Some of these I will share in this book. I do not fully understand what is God but I acknowledge Its existence and I think I recognize Its influences in my life. I think there is a real connection between It and our inner spirit.
Have I lead the kind of life that anyone might consider a righteous life? Absolutely not! As a matter of fact it’s been quite the contrary. A life filled with what is commonly called self-destructive behaviour. A life “full to the brim” of self-serving and immediately gratifying displays. I can picture a minister introducing me to his/her congregation with these words: “This is T.W. McCabe, the sinner. It is his picture you will find in the dictionary under the words debaucherist and blasphemer.” I am not, and will not in this lifetime ever be, a “touchstone of virtue.” As a result of my self-serving past, I have a hard time believing anyone would take me seriously. Yet I am at peace with the notion that something bigger than myself has found a reason to trust me and to guide me.
A mysterious source and apparent coincidences have combined in my life to create a theory; it has taken all of my forty-plus years for it to emerge, develop and transform itself into my current belief. Strap on your seat belt and prepare yourself for what I believe is knowledge from the essence of all that we are.
I believe the world is about to undergo a catastrophic change -- a recurring natural phenomenon that we have the ability to understand and survive. I think, on an intellectual level, the possibility of this theory is recognizable. But more importantly, if I’ve imparted the message correctly and you hear those subtly expressed feelings within yourself, I think you’ll become intuitively aware that the concerns within this scenario are sincere and justifiable. And come to think you are being warned or, more appropriately, you’ll feel like you’re being reminded that you’ve always been invited to prepare and join those who’ll try to survive.
I was eleven years old when my theory began to develop. The experience that day was so dramatic it was burned into my memory. It came during a geography lesson. My teacher,
Mr. Bell, was tutoring me on the subject of the Ice Age. He described a time when snow and ice crept down the sides of our globe, building to a mass that is presently equaled only by our polar ice caps.
I remember thinking that, if it happened once, it could happen again. This thought happened concurrently with what felt like a shock running up my spine. The phenomenon became enhanced, getting stronger and changed from a thought to a premonition. Suddenly clarity reigned. Not only could this happen, I felt it would happen. That sensation took hold, then shifted again. I was left with a strong intuitive warning -- something was telling me that “it was going to happen during my lifetime and this next Ice Age would play a significant role in my life.” Mr. Bell went on to say that some people believe it would happen again in the year 2000. I quickly calculated that I’d be forty-two years old in 2000; it struck me as an eternity from my eleven-year-old vantage point and hardly worth worrying about.
The ‘clarity of knowing’ in those moments still exists within me. My memories of the incident are as vivid as though it happened yesterday. To say my life has been dedicated to solving the mystery of those moments or that I’ve been worried about the year 2000 would be incorrect. Mostly, the memories are tucked away in a niche of my subconscious. Only occasionally have they been summoned forward into my consciousness by a comment, observation or fact that triggers another electrical charge to rush through my body alerting me to this newest knowledge and resurfacing the unconscious memories of previous shocks.
These shocks and accumulated bits of information are what developed the theory I have begun to share with you. I have come to call these shocks my “theory shocks.” Each shock fit another piece into the puzzle. Half a lifetime dotted with these shocks has created an image I have trouble denying. The combined memories of these theory shocks sometimes cause me to think I have a destiny and I feel compelled to act to survive their warning.
We cannot deny the Ice Age happened. It is a fact that half of North America was covered by a glacier many thousands of years ago. What is baffling is that the seasons changed consistently for three thousand years to chase the glacier into the Arctic Circle. Twelve thousand years later, the seasons remain consistent and continue to keep the ice in check. Ever since my experience with that first theory shock, the question of what caused the Ice Age has been a perplexing wonderment for me.
Certainly, I’ve heard many theories all fitting within the realm of possibility. That’s why they are repeatable and popular theories. Yet I was never satisfied. The bothersome part of the mystery is that the Ice Age had specific boundaries. I could not embrace the idea that the globe cooled off within a specific area at a particular latitude and yet remained glacier-free in the majority of that latitude. In hindsight, what was missing was a theory shock, a sense of validation delivered down the gossamer highway, to let me know that I was hearing the correct information.
In time I stumbled onto an explanation that shocked the be-jeebers right out of me. I might as well confess I cannot take credit for this theory. Many people have worked hard to uncover the bits of information I have inadvertently stumbled onto. And it took a kick in the butt from a theory shock for me to take notice I’ve simply become a vessel in which they’ve collected. For the most part I’ve been lazy. This theory’s development formed during my life apparently by coincidence. Today, I think the theory shocks were provided by that allusive dimension that I think might be the spiritual world -- the essence of the Universe.
A theory shock nailed me while reading Jess Stearn’s book, Edgar Cayce: The Sleeping Prophet. Edgar Cayce is a well-documented mystic, a man who could go into a trance-like state of rest and diagnose the illnesses of people that baffled the current (early to mid-1900s) medical professionals. Mr. Cayce prescribed remedies for the illnesses with a mind-boggling rate of success. After his death in the forties, and even today, scientists are finding the hidden values within these remedies. A library in Virginia Beach preserves the over fourteen thousand readings done by Edgar Cayce. While in a trance, the great wisdom channeled by Edgar was questioned with respect to some of our world’s mysteries: Atlantis, reincarnation and prophecies to name a few.
One real-to-life anecdote I found amusing was that some people tapped into the wisdom and profited in the stock market. They became quite rich, but when the wisdom warned theses same people about the upcoming stock-market crash, they ignored it and became quite poor. Edgar was a humble man and did not profit from his gift. He had very little formal education, making his knowledge of anatomy even more mysterious. To get the full picture of his credibility, one must read at least one of the many books written about him.
Where Edgar’s mysterious ‘wisdom’ impacted my dilemma about how the Ice Age began resulted from his talking about an axis tilt in several readings. And then there was this question and answer, which really hit home for me. The question put to Cayce was, “What great change or the beginning of what change, if any, is to take place in the earth in the year 2000 to 2001 A.D.?” Cayce replied, “When there is a shifting of the poles, or a new cycle begins.” Suddenly a theory shock told me the mystery was solved.
The snow and ice did not creep down the side of the earth; the poles shifted. The shock was enough for me to ‘feel’ the mystery was solved, but intellectually I needed something more tangible to shake up the beliefs I adopted while growing up within the boundaries of our current rational reality. Yet, I had gained a perspective from which to view pertinent new information.
I received a shock when I learned Magnetic North was not always where it is today. By studying lava fields, geologists are able to determine the direction of Magnetic North through the magnetized iron-bearing minerals’ formation. During cooling, the magnetized iron-bearing minerals duplicate the earth’s magnetic field, thus pointing to Magnetic North while hardening.
During the earth’s evolution, volcanoes have been a constant factor; and the hardened lava has recorded many changes in the direction of Magnetic North. The shock I received with this bit of information let me know a change in the magnetic field’s direction is relevant. Perhaps the magnetic field has remained the same and it is the earth’s crust that has moved? I am aware that the proper term for what I am discussing is “crustal displacement.” However, this book is for the masses and I think the name “pole shift” more clearly describes the part of this process that will affect us.
I received a shock while watching a show about a ship that travels the seven seas taking core samples from the land below the oceans. A core sample is attained by a hollow drill bit. As the bit cuts its way into the ground, different layers fill a hollow tube. When the tubes are retrieved and emptied, each layer represents a different time when it was the surface of the earth’s crust before the silting sediments in the layer above settled on it. Each core sample represents several time capsules. Geologists are able to read the layers like pages in a book. Scientists from Texas A & M University took samples from the submerged land around Antarctica and discovered some layers were formed by tropical vegetation. My shock told me this was relevant to pole shifting.
Yet the current politically correct trend of science is uniformitarianism. Uniformitarianism is a viewpoint that the earth has developed through a slow, deliberate and methodical chain of events. A scientist with this viewpoint exclusively credits continental drift for the separation of continents, from one original continent called Pangaea.
It is a measurable fact that continental drift does exist. Continents riding on the backs of tectonic plates are in constant movement at a rate of inches per year. Over millions of years, continental drift could explain why an ancient volcano’s lava field would point to a different Magnetic North. Yet my theory shocks have guided me to believe the slow evolution of continental drift is also permeated with violent crustal lurching I call pole shifting.
Scientists are products of their education. While training, they are exposed to theories developed during years of study. In other words, they’ve been conditioned to follow the current trend of thought within the scientific community. In other words, they’ve been brainwashed. To make independent decisions, they must go against years of training and their peers. Of course some do but I am speaking of the politically correct majority.
Status and credibility within their community is achieved while perpetuating commonly agreed-upon hypotheses. To prove otherwise makes all those who perpetuate the older theories look more than a little foolish. A freethinking young scientist could unseat established scientists -- the very scientists who were his or her mentors.
At times, the scientific community has looked for answers to the question of earth’s development from a viewpoint that catastrophic events have played a part, particularly when religion had a say in what science believed. The two views are opposite extremes on the arc of a pendulum.
I believe the problem in deciding what actually happens in planetary evolution is that these views are locked in opposition. The longer I live, the more I realize things are seldom black or white. It is easier for me to believe both theories are correct: yes, there is continental drift and yes, there are catastrophic events.
A recent discovery may swing the pendulum to a point of balance and achieve my proposed agreeable compromise. While studying planets in our solar system, crater counters noticed planets were unevenly cratered. They surmised that where a planet was lightly cratered is likely a relatively new surface caused by volcanic eruption. With this in mind, a stargazer can actually see the boundaries between the heavily pockmarked surface and the new surface with its very sparse number of craters.
It is Venus that gives us a hint that huge catastrophes can be a part of the natural chain of events during a planet’s evolution. The whole surface of Venus is very sparsely cratered. The obvious solution is that Venus’s crust was turned inside out. In other words, Venus was re-surfaced by volcanic activity either in a relatively short span of time or all at once.
Another shock told me to pay attention when I learned about a map of a continent that could not be found during a comparison of earth’s known continents. Some four or five hundred years ago a man walked into a mapmaker’s office with an ancient map and wanted it redrawn. Since that time, the map has remained an enigma for those exposed to it. Periodically, over generations, it was pulled out and compared with the known continents; yet a match was not found until this century!
The development of seismic survey allows sound waves to see through things for us. An explosive charge is fired on a surface. As sound waves travel down through a density, they are reflected back consistently. When traveling through a different density the speed of reflection changes. A crosscut diagram can be drawn from the returning differences in data.
This technology has allowed scientists to draw a map of Antarctica’s landmass. And guess what? Yep! The coastline was almost a perfect match with the mystery map. The map and the seismic survey showed mountains, hills and valleys all matched. Someone had been to Antarctica at a time when it wasn’t covered by billions of tons of snow and ice and had drawn the mystery map. It is easier for me to believe this map was drawn before a pole shift than during the multi-million year trip down under provided by continental drift. If Antarctica crept down to its present location, the map’s intimate knowledge would have to be millions of years old.
What happens during an axis tilt or pole shift became clear to me from another shocking bit of information. At some point in relatively recent history, there was a very dramatic discovery in Siberia. A team of explorers found a perfectly preserved woolly mammoth, flash frozen while grazing. His lunch was very significant when analyzed. The analysis revealed the lunch consisted of tropical plants -- tropical plants that flourish today a full thirty degrees latitude south of Siberia.
The mammoth, like the elephant, is a tropical animal. My body felt electrified! This animal had been frozen for about fifteen thousand years. Continental drift had to take a back seat to the explanation of how this animal became frozen while chomping on flowers too fragile to live this close to the Arctic Circle. A picture began to form in my mind quelling the mystery that haunted me since Mr. Bell’s geography lesson.
A pole shift is exactly what the words describe: the place on the earth’s crust where the poles were, moved. The land that settled where the old poles were became the current North and South Poles. Does the whole mass of our planet turn over in space or does the crust slide around on the molten core? I believe that, given the right conditions, an unbalanced crust will slide at the transition site between what is hard and what is liquid like a greased wheel spins around an axle. Just like it did when it scooted the tropical land, the tropical flowers and tropical mammoths off to the Arctic Circle. Twelve flash-frozen mammoths have been discovered to date in Siberia.
To help myself visualize what happened I picked up a globe and spun Siberia south. I was able to see that, if the mammoths and Siberia were shifted thirty degrees of latitude south into the tropics, then the part of North America that had been inundated by the last Ice Age would be centered at the North Pole. There wasn’t an Ice Age at all. There was a pole shift followed by three thousand years of consistently changing seasons that melted the glaciers and caused their retreat or, more precisely, their demise. I think it wasn’t so much retreating glaciers that etched North America. The scraping of North America was caused by dying ancient ice.
From the time the North American glacier began to die, two new glaciers began to grow. Today we call them the Arctic and the Antarctic. I suspected there might be evidence of another dead glacier diagonally through the planet from Canada. Unfortunately, a perpendicular line drawn through the globe from Canada lands us in the southern portion of the Indian Ocean just like the present North Pole is positioned over a sea. Therefore there is no land to look at for recent glacial scars. If there was, it would be easier for us to conclude that the pole shift theory is not a theory at all.
Which part of the planet will be next to have its turn under the ice? Given the recurring nature of this theory, I would not be surprised to find glacial scars on many parts of the world. Special care must be taken when determining the proper age of these scars so as not to confuse different glacial events as one big Ice Age.
Actually my hypothesis has already been proposed by Charles Hapgood in his book Earth’s Shifting Crust: A Key To Some Basic Problems Of Earth Science. Hapgood proposed that the poles have changed three times in the last seventy thousand years. He believed that seventy thousand years ago the North Pole shifted to the Greenland Sea. Fifty thousand years ago it shifted to Hudson Bay. Eleven thousand, six hundred years ago it landed where it sits today.
Hapgood shared his findings with Albert Einstein who helped Hapgood shore up the weaker areas of his still developing proposal. They corresponded for over two years until finally Einstein wrote this foreword (copied from “The Einstein-Hapgood papers” www.lauralee.com/rflmath/e-h.htm) for Hapgood’s book: “I frequently receive communications from people who wish to consult me concerning their unpublished ideas. It goes without saying that these ideas are very seldom possessed of scientific validity. The very first communication, however, that I received from Mr. Hapgood electrified me...” Wow! I love Einstein’s choice of words. It sounds like Einstein received theory shocks when he heard information that rang true to a ‘part of his being.’
Further on in the book Einstein gives an explanation of how he thinks a pole shift happens. “In a polar region there is a continual deposition of ice, which is not symmetrically distributed about the pole. The earth’s rotation acts on these unsymmetrically deposited masses (of ice), and produces centrifugal momentum that is transmitted to the rigid crust of the earth. The constantly increasing centrifugal momentum produced in this way will, when it has reached a certain point, produce a movement of earth’s crust over the rest of the earth’s body, and this will displace the polar regions toward the equator.”
In plain English what he’s saying is, the build-up of ice at the poles will affect the earth’s wobbling spin. At some point there will be so much ice that it will cause the crust to slide out of the balanced state it is in. The result is a change in the position of the earth’s crust: crustal displacement or what I call a pole shift.
Einstein also theorized that under the massive weight of ice the rock below would become pulverized. This friction will cause the pulverized rock to mix with melting ice. The pulverized rock and water will create a past-like layer between ice cap and crust -- this was recently proven to be a fact. This means that presently, the ice cap isn’t firmly attached to anything. If we look at the land elevations on the continent of Antarctica, we will see that one side of the island is generally much higher than its opposite side. One might think the ice is free to slide off the island. I think that given a slanted island with trillions of tons of pressure pushing straight down on the slant, it is possible the ice will stay put and push the land out of the way.
One more scenario before we move on. While surfing the net I found a site at: www.poleshift.org/ps/guest_thoughts1.html. In this website are the thoughts of Dr. Walter Peterson. I didn’t find a list of his credentials but my guess is he’s not one of those scientists who are afraid of controversy. His theories don’t appear to fit politically correct criteria. Therefore he is definitely worthy of honorable mention in this book. I am trying to bring to your attention that the odds are in favor that our planet’s fate is unknown rather than, already known.
Dr. Peterson says that an electrical current runs through the earth from the South Pole out through the North Pole. Because the ice at the poles is getting thicker all the time, it acts as an ever-increasing insulator. The current is forced to enter and escape farther and farther outwards at the edges of the polar caps. Because the current wants to travel in straight lines it actually pushes the earth over in order to do so. He says, “For years several colleges have received from the US government distressing news that the North Pole is rotating in a triangular fashion which was/is growing larger.” The ramifications should be obvious. Check out his paper. The theory is very interesting; he even provides a solution that might put an end to pole shifts. But keep in mind a solution to one problem can create different problems.
Solving the exact cause of the pole shift is not my forte and I do think there is more than one dynamic involved. How it happens isn’t as important to me as whether it does happen. If it does happen then my theory shocks gain validation for me and trying to survive becomes a sensible thing to do.
I don’t require more proof. The mammoth story put an end to my doubts. For me, there is no doubt a pole shift occurred in the past. Combining this knowledge with the original theory shock’s message to me -- made me shiver. Yet, an important question still needed to be answered. How could I determine when the next pole shift would occur? If, as the theory shock told me, my life was to be impacted by the next pole shift, then I must know for when I should be prepared.
