My Saturday Night Grind!

Look what I just got in the mail... Another Ledger Nano S! It just arrived today and I'm definitely going load it with tons of crypto and lock it away for safe keeping! 🤑

I'm going to say this right now, Never keep your cryptocurrencies on an Exchange! Its ok to have a little bit' for fast and easy swing trading but never store them there, EVER! 😳

There's been thousands of stories of people losing all there crypto's because they kept all there crypto on an Exchange, lets not bring up the MTGOX Fiasco from many years ago. Everyone lost all there 💩 when they were hacked! 🤦🏼

Currently I keep most of my cryptos offline, however I still like to diversity them into many things. Here are a few examples: *BEST 💁🏼‍♂️

  1. Exodus
  2. Exodus Eden
  3. Several MyEtherwallets
  4. Jaxx Wallet
  5. *Several Ledger Nano S
  6. *Trezor Hardware Wallet

These are just several good wallets out there but the best protection are the Ledger's and the Trezor which keep your precious cryptocurrency offline.

If you don't know what these are and how they work... the best thing to do is do some research and due your own due diligence. In my opinion, the Ledger Nano S is the best ones available.

Just wanted to share some stuff on a Saturday Night. I'm usually out and about but in the last few months, I've spending my weekends doing research on Cryptos! .... Can You Say Geek Lifestyle! 🤣🤓

So let me ask my Steemit peeps, what is your #1 way to store your Cryptocurrencies? Are you using online wallets, paper wallets or hardware wallets? Looking forward to your comments! 😆

Keep on STACKIN! 💞

Wait... why shouldn’t we keep them in an exchange ??

Because you really don't control them, they do. Anytime an exchange can close down or won't let you have access to them. I remember Poloniex would let me get my tokens out for 2 months without any reasons :)

Exchanges I believe is the most insecure way of keeping your cryptos.

You also have to consider that exchanges can be hacked. They have been hacked in the past, and thousands of people have lost their money. What most people refer to is Mt Gox, which you can read about here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mt._Gox

Excellent choice my friend :). I bought one too last month, and now I order another one because it works too well and keeps my capital safe.

Nice. I like keeping my coins on my Ledger Nano S as well!

A note to everyone to make sure to generate your own 24 seed phrase. There's been a lot of scams on third party sellers sending compromised seed phrases with hardware wallets. A redditor lost $34,000 on the Ledger Nano S he bought through eBay. https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@erickpinos/never-buy-hardware-wallets-from-third-parties

Another great awareness comment right there @erickpinos! Always protect your valuable cryptos peeps!

Absolutely true. Never buy from Amazon! You could get one with broken seal and the coins are...... Gone.

I got a Nano S too!!

He bought a 2nd hand Nano??? Oh well! That was not so smart

I store my crypto in a Hologram... just kidding paper wallets for now. Thanks for the recommendations. Definitely need to up my game!

Nothings wrong with the "Paper Game", it's real safe unless you lose it haha

I have the ledger nano s - love it, but it needs more coins!

Cheers

I like the Exodus Wallet. I also have some stuff on Myetherwallet. You are right best way is just to HODL offline.

I do use Exodus wallet for transactions and for short periods of time, I just don't keep them in there that long but it does look good :)

My favourite online wallet

Yeah, great choise! The ledger is the best to take safe your funds.

Love Ledger Nano S...just got my 2nd

We never can enough of them 🤣

Ya know man, I am starting to learn that....I saw that NEO is on there now, do you know if you stiil earn gas?

Ledger nano S. wish they had more coins.

Yeah same here, they need to add way more!

Ledger nano S provides the best security for crypto hodlers.. yet the amount of cryptos it supports needs to be bigger in number..

Generally i like the idea of storing all coins at one place (though most people tend to reject this idea) and ledger is a great way of doing it..

I am in process of buying one.. in the meantime, i couldnt find the perfect offline software based wallet... yes jaxx and exodus are notable mentions but there have been reports of security flaws in them..

So lets hope that ledger nano may include at least top 50 (if not top 100) coins..

Best regards
Enjoy the ledger ;)

In a few years, we will get the option of all coins. Not sure why it's taking so long for them to add coins, its like pulling teeth for them to get a 1 token on them lol

I guess in the mean time, we have to use many paper wallets and ledgers :)

Exactly.. very true.. its hard to believe thay with 800 billions worth of crypto market, only a handful of wallets are available out there.. and that too with limited number of coins..

Can i ask you something ? If i want to store ripple on a wallet (software based), it is said that 20 ripples will be deducted as account opening and verification fee.. does ladger nano S do the same when storing ripple on it??

I make use of the exodus and the ether ether wallet to HODL.

I like the desktop exodus wallet, it just needs to be secure 😀

can we store any coin here?

Just the main ones, about 40 of them but they add more down the way :)

my ether wallet i save some in it

I have like 10 of them :)

Hardware and Paper wallets for me. I think the Ledger Nano S is great and user friendly.

Just a friendly reminder, if you are buying the Ledger Nano S or Trezor. Please make sure you buy it from the manufacturer. Try not to buy it second hand (bad bad idea) or from resellers, as there has been cases of hacks or seed keys that were stolen.

Be safe out there, and always adhere to the Number # 1 rule in crypto: Your coins, Your keys.

Totally agree with you on this, never buy a used Trevor or ledger wallets, buy them from the manufacturer! Great comment! 😀

hi charles i want to know is there any back up option if any thing goes wrong with the device i am pretty sure no one would wanna mess with the expensive cryptos that one will hold so is it really good

Its safe if you keep your private keys and your backup phrases private :)

Excellent post @stackin. I also have a Ledger as well! My preferred method of storage is my Exodus Wallet. However, once I reach one of my crypto milestones, I will end up moving a significant portion of what I own to my Ledger. I do keep some crypto on an exchange for trading purposes. I understand the risks, and I only invest what I am willing to lose.

That’s how you do it! 💪🏼🙌🏼💯

No games homie! We're trying to make billions right!?

Jk

STACKIN! LOL

I've really gotta get more of my coins onto wallets. Have to just make the frigging time.... there is no more important thing for me to do with my crypto at this point.

Loving the Ledger Nano S that I got this week.

I happen to know that someone is raffling off a sealed ledger direct from the company on their blog for anyone who is in need of one (cough it's me cough) LOL

Dude, we are in the same boat... doing tons of research, buying and selling, and moving lots of coins around haha

man there are just too many of them! It's a matter of balancing the research against the FOMO. Never experienced anything like it before.

But I will say, I realized the other day, thanks to Steem and my ability to use SBD to diversify into other crypto, in 5 months I have accumulated 1/10 of what I would need to become completely debt free. And until the last month or so I was just blindly throwing money at projects. Now that I am really learning, I expect to be able to compound what I have made so far and get the other 9/10ths at a much quicker pace than I did the first 1/10th.

That's the hope anyway!

actually does it work wit ltc or eth? then it ok for me, my knowledge about crypto is not wide!

Yes, here is a list of coins you can store there: https://www.ledgerwallet.com/products/ledger-nano-s

Nice! Had to get one.... For the Ven strength node... Before everything was on exchange lol...

We do t want to see a MTGOX part two happen 😂🤣

Hahahhahah true!

I was trying to get the Ledger nano S only to realize the shipping prize is the same as the goods price :D so I refrain myself from purchasing one. I am all good with wallet like exodus.

Yeah, they are getting pricey, I heard there was a huge demand of them this month. 😀

Thanks for your post! I've been thinking about getting a Ledger Nano also.

Yeah, it’s pretty cheap and the best way to protect those cryptos! 😀

For the moment I am just using steemit.

When I grow a little bit more, I would probably use other online wallets, and eventually a hardware wallet because they are the safest one out there.

Yeah, our Steem is pretty safe here when in "Steem Power" :)

Cool WALLET :)

It's one of the best ones out there :)

Right Bro...

Doooood!! You beat me to writing this article! I got one for Xmas!! Mine is different (looks different but now that I'm reading it might be the same Nano S), so I'll still do it .. it's a part of my bug out bag so I'm about to write about my BADASS Bug Out Bag for Women :p

Awww, but you can still write one. Theses a better one called the blue version! They want $300 for it though 😂🤣💖

Thanks for sharing. A little bit of a weird question, but starting what amount (at what point) should you consider an offline wallet?

Everyone price points are different, I make it pretty simple, things you want to HODL for a very long time. Probably over $10k for each coin 🤑

Thanks! That's what I was thinking. Once you have a solid investment, you need to protect it. Not near that level yet. But, thanks for the advice. I should make my own decision, when it feels right :).

I'm keeping it in my Nano S for the time being but will switch to Ethos wallet when it comes out.

Heard great things about Ethos! Can’t wait til they launch there product, I like “Bread” but it’s only for bitcoins 😀

Yeah it's going to be a game changer. In the meantime, Enjin coin is bringing out the most secure mobile wallet today some time for all ERC20 tokens and bitcoin.

Good buy. Love my nanos :-)

I think, with the Nano s you have recommended me a good product. And even I can serve it.
;) ;-) ;)

hmmm ... what´s wrong with you? Are you tired or why are you staying at home at a Saturday night?

anyways, I´m using Ledger nano S too & am quite happy using it.

Warm Regards
Becky

great!!

yeah its good opinion and i also preffer wallet bcz in last some days bittrex disabled accounts without any notification and all amount of users dont pay them

I don't keep mine for too long on Ledger Nano S, because I've heard of warning I just keep them a short while and the cash them out

I treated myself to a nano s on Black Friday. It's already a good deal, but they had a sale on! I bought my first bitcoins in 2011 and I've lost more of them than I now own mainly through imploding exchanges. I've learned my lesson, its offline for me now for the bulk of my Bitcoin, I keep under 10% in online wallets for easy access.

Wow! Tnx for this wonderful information. I do have an online wallet

Crypto/BTC is a great way.The earliest way to get rich and not just make money with crypyo is to buy BTC and hold for year or two..........

Nice post

Any of the big crypto users you see on the news ALWAYS say they keep it offline. I guess the only crypto we have to keep online is our Steem in our steempower though.

Bitconnect was and is a scam. Most people knew that and yet, people with low morals keep sending those lambs to the slaughterhouse .... Invest what you are prepared to loose they said ... Lets hope it ends quickly.

Great!!!!!!!!! Thank you
-cheers-

hey bro, what´s up?

what do you think personally at what point in time a need to use an offline wallet? Let´s say from what amount onwards would you be putting your funds there?

Besides, you should at least have a drink if you aint going partying at a SATURDAY night :)

Cheers

i too need to buy it for sure ledger nano s is the best i think

They are indeed the best protection the crypto can be at !I am also looking at getting one soon enough !

great post.i like your cryptocurency.bitcoin is the best blockchin of steemit.thanks for sharing

I want a Nano S too - but at the moment I saw they are sold out.

I need to buy a Nano S. Thanks for your recommendation.

Friend how impressive many people have bought their ledger and has its cryptocurrency funds more sheltered. Congratulations friend that you enjoy it.

Greetings from Venezuela a big hug for you

I always wonder with these things, what happens if it crashes?

I really want to learn how to use these paper wallets? Right now I am using coinpayemnts.net to store my coins. But due to lack of knowledge and proper guidance I am unable to use these paper wallets or hardware wallets. One question that always comes to my mind is that what will happen if I loose my wallet? What is the recovery option for it?

nice post upvote you

Do I need a ledger nano device to recover my assets, or can I use my phrases elsewhere?

I considered buying a ledger nano s but I decided it is not worth it due to the rather small amount of coins that it supports. I am waiting for ETHOS wallet to launch and then I plan on using that.

This is cool post. ..😊😊😊😊

Nanooooo and more Nanoooossss

Its really expensive which discourages most

I got a Ledger Nano S a couple weeks ago and love it. It's a great tool to use among many others. The wise path is to diversify your funds, and a hardware wallet is offline so hackers cannot break in and steal.
