I don't think that's necessarily true. It depends on the ratio of content creators to consumers. I'd wager that right now, we have a higher ratio of creators than other platforms do, such as Reddit. I'd say the reverse could very well happen. No way to know yet.

I think this could happen because of some issue with approving accounts automatic (I heard) Everyone who applied this or last week and maybe even longer ago had to wait up to a week to have their account manually approved. On Tuesday it all was fixed I guess and all the pending accounts (Including mine) went though.
That's why the huge flood of new people in a very short time.

@stackin, 10,000 steemit accounts in 3 days is simply huge. It is a deluge (I am one of the guys who came in just a few days ago).
I believe that this huge influx into steemit is a double edged sword. More steemians means more exciting content, more interaction and exchange and sharing of knowledge, larger viewership in the platform, because of the sheer number.
The flip side is, your visibility in the platform could get severely jeopardized as there are a lot more guys, working a lot harder to produce quality content and get on the trending or hit list.
It is important to know that you have a window of just a couple of hours or less from the time of your posting to make any impact and get traction for your blog. After a couple of hours you loose traction and blog cools down and becomes stale and your upvotes n payouts stop. With more accounts and more content, your window for visibility and traction got that much smaller. Now you might have just 2 hours instead of earlier 4 hours. Just saying.
This affects minnows n newbie like us who have very few followers and also those followers don't have enough SP to make a difference to me.
So for the buggies with huge fan base n following it's awesome as you get traction from your followers. For a newbie it just got way too much tougher to break the barrier.
Then with more accounts n more content, there will be lot more quality posts than earlier times and the payouts sort of gets distributed. So you will see more payouts in range of $150 -$250 and lesser of abv$2000. But again the $2000+ group bloggers are in a league of their own and they function at a different plane altogether.
As I put it, it's a double edged sword. The best and consistent and persistent and hardworking will survive and the wannabe's will fall down harder than ever like a pack of cards.
But now HF19 happened and that's something good for minnows
Overall I am pretty excited to see the way steemit is growing exponentially every day. Happy days are ahead
