#ChartYourCourse Challenge | Celebrating 10 days on steemit!

in chartyourcourse •  6 years ago  (edited)

We decided to take up @dreemsteem's challenge to map out our ultimate steemit goal(s). It's always good to know what the intention behind your brand is, and we're thankful to have this handy roadmap to help us set our thinking down in words!

@TheNewAlchemists are an artist collective (and hopeful incubator) for creative minds on steemit. We are invested in cross-sector collaboration, artistic networking, and creative placemaking.

Although we officially "incorporated" in 2015, we are brand new to steemit, and only 10 days in. So far we have 90 followers (huge thanks to you early adopters out there!), and 40 incredible artists in our Discord channel.

If you're new to us, here's what you may have missed so far to give you a sense of who we are before we map our goals!

Our Introduction Post!

In our intro we talk about early ideas, and get people hyped to join our Discord! One of our early goals is to get a vibrant creative community thriving to support initiatives and member projects!

Getting to Know us Better!

In our second post we gave you some more details about who we are and what drives us. In particular, we wanted to hit home our mission, which is to bring stories that need to be told to life with courage, compassion, humanity, and heart.

ArtSearch Curation Initiative + Call for Curators

Our baseline community contribution will be a thriving roster of art curation posts in varied disciplines and languages from some of our amazing community members. Check out the link above and apply today. Applications are rolling and authors receive 50/50 payout after curation per post.

ArtSearch Logo Design Contest

Our Artistic Director, @LilyRaabe, is paying 5sbd to an artist who can create a permanent logo for the ArtSearch curation project. Deadline is Saturday, April 21 at 11:59PM PST.

Using Art to Build Empathy | Case Studies

Here we talk about creative placemaking, which is our ultimate vision for our time on steemit. We also talk about some of our IRL creative placemaking and solicit your feedback!

And now, the #ChartYourCourse Challenge Rules

  • What is your Steemit goal? (In one sentence, make it as specific and as measurable as possible)
  • Prioritize these three aspects of Steemit for you: Posting, Curating, Commenting
  • Name up to 5 groups/communities that help you to achieve your goal.
  • Name at least one measurable future goal for: 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months.
  • And because everything should end on a sweet note... name your favorite dessert!
  • Challenge 3-5 people to chart their course!
  • Use the #chartyourcourse tag

And at last, our response to the #ChartYourCourse Challenge prompts!

What is your Steemit goal?

Our steemit goal is to build a vibrant community of artists invested in cross-sector collaboration, artistic networking, and creative placemaking who are able to support one another by collaborating to set and achieve individual and group goals.

Prioritize these three aspects of Steemit for you: Posting, Curating, Commenting

SPOILER ALERT: Our number one priority is not any one of these three. Our number one priority on steemit is community organizing. Without a community, or an audience, an artist is basically dead in the water. It takes a village to make and support art. We believe that a combination approach of all three methods will help us to organize a community--but let us be clear, we operate with a people first mentality.

That being said, here's where those aspects rank:

  • CURATING: Curating is our first priority, especially as we start out. We want to set a high standard of quality and community, and providing examples of what we mean by that will help to make our community grow! Additionally, this is a way to involve incredible steemians as curators and diversify leadership on the TNA platform.

  • COMMENTING: We are hella committed to commenting. Because we want to build a community, we want to make sure we're actively engaging with people and letting them know that they matter!

  • POSTING: Lastly, we are going to post regularly! However, if time gets tight, we'll focus on curating and commenting first and foremost.

Name up to 5 groups/communities that help you to achieve your goal.

There are so many groups, communities, and individuals on steemit. We'll list some that are connected to our Artistic Director @LilyRaabe who is helming the steemit branch of TNA!

Name at least one measurable future goal for: 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months.

  • 1 month -- 250 followers, have the @TheNewAlchemists ArtSearch Curation Initiative up and running, with at least 6 awesome regular curators!
  • 3 months - 750 followers, see @TheNewAlchemists publishing at lest 3-4 weekly curation posts with a roster of 6-10 ongoing curators. We will launch 1-2 other initiatives to support creatives on the blockchain. Current ideas include a live play reading series, an art market, an all-discipline art competition, activist and artist interview series and more. Find us in Discord to lend your opinion as we take another week or two to let things marinate.
  • 6 months -- 1500 followers, begin to make some regular income on steemit to build capital. Have launched our first creative place-making documentary series and crowdfunding project to support our work in Hawai'i on the blockchain.
  • 12 months -- 3000 followers, see a regular steemit income of $1,000 monthly to support company operations, see @TheNewAlchemists supporting at least 300 interdisciplinary artists via vibrant curation, ongoing contests, live performance events on the blockchain, and creative placemaking work.

And because everything should end on a sweet note... name your favorite dessert!

Today's dessert of choice is a perfectly baked Lemon Bar. I'm a really really big fan of this particular recipe (and photo) from Barefeet in the Kitchen. Yum.

Challenge 3-5 people to chart their course!

I love this part -- because it’s so awesome to see how other people are planning their time on steemit and charting their goals. Here are some awesome artists who have joined TNA who I'll toss this to. :)

And that is all for now. What are your goals? Even if you haven’t been nominated personally, I highly recommend taking a moment to answer these terrific questions posed by @Dreemsteem -- they’re so helpful for planning out your purpose on steemit!

I loved reading these!!! Yours was the first one that I saw that chose something other than curating commenting and posting! I wondered when someone would go outside of the box! Hehehehe

What a great initiative and ambitious goals! But it sounds like you have the community support and the drive to achieve this!!!!

So thrilled that you felt that this was beneficial for you! I really did too and hoped that it would help people to aim high!

Yours did not disappoint!!! :)
