Chicago Crime Wave: Detectives & Responders Laid-Off!

Chicago is currently a city with a bad rep. for violent crime right now. While the Windy City has been infamous for being a rough town, such as Al Capone’s reign over the underworld during Prohibition; things have been known to have gotten especially bad these days. One reason for the high violent crime rate may simply be that the criminal justice system of Greater Chicago simply doesn’t care all that much, and they simply don’t want to spend the needed funds in order to quell the ever present crime wave. For example, a significant portion of police detectives, the ones who investigate homicide and other acts of serious crime, have been “let go” for years now. Not surprisingly, violent crime has spiked in those years. Chicago detectives are at half-strength in a city which is swarming with violent offenders, who are now emboldened that they will get away with harming people over and over with little chance of being caught. In fact, statistics show that homicide cases are solved less than half of the time by detectives in Chicago. The reason for this low solve rate is because the detectives themselves are simply too overburdened with new cases coming in, and they tend to forget the harder cases after a little bit of time goes bye. Sadly, the trend of laying off responders is ongoing, the officials mention that they just can’t be expected to pay for police and fire-fighters when those workers expect benefits. Well… they work a pretty important and hard job, does anyone really think they don’t deserve benefits?
