Anytime I see kids, I’m always so happy. They are so innocent and so cute. Even the bible tells us that we have to be like these little ones to enter the kingdom of God. I’d really love to have children, there’s a joy they bring. A house could be burning and they would just be smiling because they have no idea what is happening. They can be smart too and speak bluntly, saying things as they are. Isn’t that cute? I so much love them but cleaning up after them? That’s a whole lot of work. I wish one could skip those parts and enjoy the cute, happy moments but that is not possible. I think the good and the bad make up the best of memories. I can’t wait to have kids, I even want a small child around me but unfortunately, we are all grown at home and my mom keeps rebuking a fifth child anytime I tell her she will have one, lol. She says we won’t take care of the child, that we will all leave it to her. Well, that’s kind of true and I don’t blame her, training kids isn’t easy.
I was in the taxi today on my way to work and on the radio, they were talking about kids and how parents should raise them with love and discipline. The presenter also made mention of how children are so scared of their parents and it makes them distance themselves from their parents. He also made mention of a girl whose period (menstruation) started and she left her mom who was at home and went to her dad’s office to tell him about it because she thought she was injured or something. It means the girl was not close to her mom or she was scared of her mom and felt so comfortable with her dad to even tell him about her period.
I hear of people that say they never had a relationship with their dad or mom or both parents and it saddens me. Some others came from separated homes and most times, these things have a psychological effect on them. I was very fortunate to come from a home where my parents are still together and my parents and I have a relationship. My parents might not have been as close as I wanted or as I’d loved but they tried in their own way and I love them so much.
When I have kids, I want to be there for them. I want them to trust me and know that they can confide in me at all times. I will let them know that there will be discipline but however, it will be with love because I love them and I want the best for them, so they don’t have to be spoiled or feel so much entitled. I want my kids to tell me about that crush in school, about what makes them upset, about little things that matter to them. I’m pretty sure I’ll get tired of all these but it’s the sacrifice I got to make to bring up children from a loving and godly home. I’ll teach them the way of the Lord like my parents did. I’ll show them it’s possible to achieve anything, I will support their dreams and aspiration. I will teach my son to respect women and not see them as objects like our society has made it to be. I will teach my kids to stay pure and always take strength in God’s word and how God sees them. I’ll teach them purity is still relevant in this world where it seems like immorality is the norm. I’ll also let them know that if ever they falls, it’s ok. Yes, I won’t be happy but I’ll let them know they can always run to and confide in mama and that God still loves them regardless.
I have a lot I would love to achieve in the lives of my kids. Like the popular quote, “talk is cheap”, I know it’s easier said than done. But God knows my heart and I pray He helps me accomplish it all and be a mother my kids will never regret having, so help me God.
BTW y'all, did you know I have a blog?
