In the spring and Autumn period, Duke Wen of Jin Dynasty Chong'er was in exile. He was tired and hungry on the way. He cut a piece of meat from his thigh with his minister Jie Zitui and cooked soup for Chong'er. Chong'er was very grateful. After Jin Wengong ascended the throne, he forgot about jiezitui when he was awarded to the officials, but jiezitui did not admire fame and wealth and lived in seclusion in Mianshan. Chonger regretted, burning Mianshan to find, but later found that jiezitui with his mother died under a withered willow, and left a message: "cut the flesh, serve the king, do your heart, I hope the Lord is always clear."
In memory of Jie Zitui, Duke Wen of Jin designated that day as the cold food festival. In the following year, Duke Wen of Jin went to the mountain to pay a memorial ceremony. When the willow tree came back to life, he gave the old willow the name of "Qingming willow" and the day after the cold food was Qingming.
After more than 2000 years of evolution, the Qingming Festival has gone beyond the meaning of solar terms and has a very rich connotation. Different customs have been developed all over the country, and tomb sweeping, outing and outing are the basic themes.
Tomb Sweeping originated in the Shang Dynasty, but not necessarily during the Qingming Dynasty. Tomb sweeping began to be popular in the Tang Dynasty and has been handed down to this day. From the Tang Dynasty, up to the kings and ministers, down to the common people in Pingtou, they have to worship the souls of their ancestors in this festival. When sweeping tombs, we should first renovate the tombs, mainly to remove weeds and add new soil.
This kind of ceremony, on the one hand, can express the sacrifice of filial piety and care for the dead; on the other hand, the ancients believed that the rise and fall of ancestors' tombs and future generations have a close relationship, so Pei tomb is a very important memorial ceremony.
