Zhangjiajie

Home to more than 3,000 quartzite sandstone peaks, Zhangjiajie has some of the most surreal scenery in China. This spectacular alien landscape is famous for inspiring James Cameron's Pandora Floating Mountains.

In fact, authorities in Wulingyuan District have renamed one of the tallest pillars (about 3,500 feet tall) "Avatar Hallelujah Mountain."

Many parts of the movie "Avatar" were filmed in Zhangjiajie.

Whether you choose to take an organized tour, rafting along the river, hiking, or strolling the scenic glass walkways, visiting this place will make you feel like you're in a sci-fi movie.
