Some of the students were inspired by Hayek's work and others misunderstood his message. It is very difficult to overcome a lifetime of indoctrination, but its not impossible. This class back in 1999 read Hayek and had discussions about it. They debated its merits and even if not all of the students were convinced of how harmful and unnecessary central planing is the seed was planted in their heads. They really thought about it for the first time. Not enough students get the chance to read liberty minded authors like Hayek and have real meaningful discussions about liberty vs central planing. I wish I would have been exposed to it in my school years.
But now that I know I have educated myself and wile I don't claim to be the smartest person in the world or even claim to know much of anything in the grand scheme of things; I know right from wrong and I know it doesn't change. If an immoral act is committed through private means its wrong and that same act when done collectively is still wrong. Next, in truth Its not possible to delegate rights you don't have to someone else. If its wrong for one person to threaten, extort, kidnap, and murder, its wrong for everyone. This includes those who hold political power and no ritual of any kind can change that. Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and property. Don't harm others and don't take their stuff is the standard we should hold everyone to. No one should feel any moral obligation to obey immoral laws and orders. Obey your conscience.
