As we all know, the Tequeños, are traditionally cheese bars covered with strips of wheat flour. Currently, the recipe has several variants, and one of them is its chocolate filling, which we will share today.

For the ingredients we will need:

350 gr. of wheat flour.
1 egg.
1 cup of liquid milk
1 pinch of salt.
1 spoon of sugar.
3/4 cup of butter
4 1/2 cup of chocolate bar with milk and sugar.
Vegetable oil.

preparation:

In a bowl, pour the wheat flour, salt, milk, egg, butter and sugar; mix with your hand or mixer until you get a uniform mixture and all ingredients are incorporated.

Let the dough rest for half an hour (covered).

After half an hour, spread the dough on a flat surface and sprinkle a little wheat flour on it, flour our hands, and roll a roller over it until a thin layer is obtained.

Once the dough is fully stretched, cut it into long strips and wrap a piece of chocolate in it.

Finally, fry the Tequeños in hot oil and when they are golden, remove them and put them in a dish lined with absorbent paper.

Curiosities:

This recipe serves to make the traditional tequeños with cheese, we can also fill them with dulce de leche, ham, cheese, pineapple, ricotta cheese with spinach, seafood or any ingredient they prefer.

Another variation is the chorizo ​​filling, sold in Spanish supermarkets as a result of the growth of the Venezuelan immigrant population in that country.

There is also tequeyoyo, stuffed with cheese and ripe plantain, originally from Zulia state.

They can also vary in size, from the small tequeños for parties to the tequeñon (larger).
