The resigning governor of the state of New York, Eliot Spitzer's old story, has recently come to the fore after the shocking discovery that he has been using the services of exclusive escort agency for quite some time. Ashley Alexander Dupree, the very expensive prostitute whose sexual services were bought by Spitzer (according to his own public confession) has soon after exposed herself to the public (pan not intended) hoping that her fifteen minutes of fame would boost up her singing career.

These two people, Spitzer and Dupree, serve as a wonderful example for those who walk the path towards Realization. As it may be recalled, one of the final phases on the path to Realization is the integration, the reunion of one’s human aspect with one’s higher self/divine consciousness. On the way to get there, one must assemble one’s entire entourage of aspects who can be viewed and regarded as different humans who exercise various characters of the person's behavior.
What does it mean?
Let’s examine Dupree’s case. She is 26 years old and so far has chosen to simultaneously explore two main attributes of human behavior.
- First is the creative part, through her premature singing career,
- and the second is the sexual aspect through the extreme decision to work as a prostitute.
After the scandal has been exposed, it was reported that Dupree received tempting offers from the Penthouse and Hustler magazines. Dupree has also tried to leverage the publicity she received, for advancing her musical career but a radio station that used to broadcast her songs took them out of its playlist, “due to insufficient interest from the listeners’ end”. Dupree may eventually get a business deal out of the scandal and Spitzer may regain the trust (and love?) of his family and may return to politics. But these are not the important elements in this story.
A personal change
Will those two individuals use their experiences to make a necessary leap in their consciousness? Will they be able to consider the events as a gift that now must be utilized for the sake of their own spiritual growth? Will they be able to see beyond the narrow human aspect?! Being a cheating husband and a hypocrite politician are just two aspects of Spitzer’s higher self; being a prostitute or a failed singer are merely two aspects of Dupree’s higher self.
The first thing they should do is to exercise compassion. They should not judge themselves for becoming conscious of those two aspects. Indeed, one can think of better decisions for one’s life but the first and very important attitude that one should exercise is the non-judgment approach. Only if they don’t harshly judge or condemn themselves they will be able to love those aspects and hence integrate them. Those aspects want to be acknowledged; to be loved, to be accepted, and only then they would leave.
The second thing that Dupree and Spitzer should do is a decision. They must make a conscious choice - what do I want to do with the rest of my life? Will I allow those aspects to haunt me, to control my remaining years, or will I explore other aspects – “good” or “bad” alike – until I become a whole spirit here on earth, in this physical reality?!
The years to come will show us many more examples from which we will learn. Life always brings answers to those who ask. Still, many times we are blind to our immediate life circumstances that offer such guidance and so the mass consciousness creates a worldwide event - one that shocks us enough to make us reconsider what we are, who we are and where we are going.
Hopefully, for my readers, the material I publish here can serve as such guidance and spare you some drama and difficult situations.
