Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD
Psalm 134:2
In church, before a worship session or the word ministration, the leading minister mostly asks that our hands be lifted up and sometimes we wonder why.
Lifting up of our hands is a physical means of blessing God's name spiritually. In other words, before God, when we lift our hands in the consciousness that it is to Him, we are just saying: "blessed be your name oh Lord". It is an act that we should not only do in church but even in our various homes and as we go about our usual duties because according to Psalm 113:3, the name of the Lord must be praised at all times.
As we lift our hands to God, he also blesses us out of Zion (His heavenly treasury) [Psalm 134:3] with many blessings.
LIFE APPLICATION
Make it a habit of lifting your hands to God as an expression of your reverence to His name.
PRAYER
