Thinking out LOUD!!!!

Thinking out loud: you wonder why believers have difficulty in understanding the bible, and are easily tossed too and fro with doctrines , when a typical church service OF 3 hours only has 45 mins separated for sermon and teaching. It's quite ridiculous. Maybe I should ask, what is been done with the remaining 2hours 15 minutes. #jamboree
We leave the main essence of church and Chase after shadow. A typical worship service programme goes thus :
Opening prayer _ 5 minutes
Call to worship _ 5 minutes
Praise and worship _ 35minutes
Testimony _ 30 minutes
Child dedication _ 15 minutes
Fund raising for church project _ 15 minutes
Family anniversary/ thanksgiving _ 10 minutes
Choir rendition _ 15 minutes
Pastors sermon _ ( this one varies based on the remaining time and in most cases church members are tired and sleepy , (lol) 45 mins in most cases)
Announcements _ 15 minutes
Closing benediction _ 5 minutes
Hymn OF praise _ 5 MINUTES
Closing prayer _ 5 minutes
And you wonder if it's a service or something else. #the church has a lot OF changes to make. If we would really help believers to grow.
I'm just thinking out loud .

I agree that churches aren't teaching the Bible enough. That being the case, we as believers now have so many bible study tools available to us for free over the internet that most of us shouldn't need teaching from a pastor as much as was historically the case. I try to encourage people to take a more active role in their understanding of scripture.

Nicely said , thanks

I just read an article about Francis Chan the author of "Crazy Love". He left his mega church because the reasons you stated. He said it was a waste of time. He ended up starting a new church called "we are church". You should look into it. Here is the article. https://steemit.com/christian/@rusticman1/i-was-moved-by-this-article-when-it-said-gangs-are-a-better-picture-of-family-then-the-modern-day-church-201773t11569992z

You do have a point that church services are not really geared to good preaching or teaching; I don't have a problem with this order of service, what I find is that when the pastor gets up to do his sermon, his sermon adds no benefit to what I am dealing with; there is too much shouting and proclaiming the victory in Jesus name, but no enough instruction of how to ACHIEVE the victory in Jesus name!

The issue for me is good content and less appeasing my emotions; I love to praise the the Lord, and that is what the praise and worship section of the service is for, but I also need the shepherd of my church to feed me with the word, and to give me practical solutions on how to deal with whatever issue or problem I am having!

I have learned more from some 30 minute christian TV shows on how to pray, and declare the word of God, meditation and healing techniques than I have ever received from the current pastor of my church, and that is sad.

The church of God in general needs to stop having church services by the book and be led by God and the Holy Spirit, once the church members are willing to listen for His guidance, they will find that they will walk in more power and more authority!

Exactly the point . Thanks . May God continue his good work in your life
