Luke 21:16-18 (KJV)
And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake. But there shall not an hair of your head perish.

Jesus said some would die but none would perish.

There is a clear doctrine of life after death and of judgment after death in this passage.

Death is not to be feared most
No question that death is an enemy. None of us look forward to it, though some surrender to it before it is due and some even defect to its side and take their own lives.

But death is not the great enemy and death is not that which we must avoid at all costs.

Perishing is to be feared and avoided
The great thing is that, though it is appointed unto man once to die, God is not willing that any should perish. None of us can avoid eventually dying but all of us can avoid ever perishing eternally.

Die to the sinful flesh and live in newness of life in Christ!

Romans 4-9

We were buried therefore with him through baptism to death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life. For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will also be part of his resurrection; knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. But if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him; knowing that Christ, being raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no more has dominion over him!
