Fear and The End of the World

This will be a post unlike most that I write, and I only write it because I was struck by how much I was effected by something that happened earlier.

So what shook me up?

Well I was sitting at my computer working on a school project, and like normal I had a video playing on my other screen playing highlights from the last couple of days news cycle. Of course the Syrian gas attacks and the likely airstrikes that are coming as a result. I was not paying much attention to it really, in my opinion, when God wants the end to happen it will

But then the sirens started going off...

I immediately sat up and started paying attention, the City of Lansing had triggered it's warning system at 1:15 in the afternoon, it was not just a noon whistle that sometimes happens, this was something different. I started feeling my heart race and found myself wondering if I was minuted from being incinerated in a Nuclear fireball.

I got on Google and started searching for why the sirens were going off, and I realized that there was a drill scheduled for Tornado warnings today, the world was not about to end...

But I am a Christian, why was I not secure in that...

This is what shook me more than anything else, I am a firm believer in Christ as savior of the world and his salvation for me. Why was I so scared? I realize now that even though I am not scared of death, I still don't really want to die. Maybe my faith is not as strong as I thought.

I did some reading and found the scripture in Isaiah 17 which says this "17 The special word about Damascus: “See, Damascus will no longer be a city. It will be destroyed and laid waste. 2 The cities of Aroer are left empty. They will be for the flocks to lie down in, and no one will make them afraid. 3 The strong city will be gone from Ephraim. Damascus will no longer rule. And those of Syria who are left alive will be like the shining-greatness of the sons of Israel,” says the Lord of All."

Wow! Pretty much talking about today's headlines! It really helped me to firm up my faith and realize that God's plan will unfold exactly the way he said it will and I am secure in my relationship with Jesus.

Are you secure with Jesus?

Secure in Jesus! Ex addict going on 34 years brother! God bless you! Where we live, we might give our lives for Jesus most any time. I believe the day it becomes a reality, God will gice the grace to endure and do it with joy. The best promise in the Bible is we will see Him face to face.
Much of what we read and hear is staged by people with an agenda. One thing for sure, either way we win! Can’t go wrong with Jesus!
Nice post brother!
God bless!

Amen!

I know the feeling, nobutsd. I have had chest pains on occasion, and my response varies from fear of the pain, to "When you're ready, God, it's Your call. I'm ready in Christ."
I think it's not so much doubt of my destination, as much as not liking the pain of the passage.
I am convinced that He will hold me and my hand all the way.

I hear that!
