Because you did not serve YHWH your God joyfully and gladly in the time of prosperity, therefore in hunger and thirst, in nakedness and dire poverty, you will serve the enemies YHWH sends against you. He will put an iron yoke on your neck until he has destroyed you.
How many times have we read stories of the Israelites and thought to ourselves “What were they thinking?” Then, when we stop and think about it, we realize we aren’t any different. And that’s really true. We’re supposed to be learning from all that was recorded of them. The problem is that more often than not, we’re just emulating what they have done.
We know it didn’t turn out too good for them because of their actions. In fact, things went pretty bad for them as a whole. That being the case, what do we expect for us if we are only following their example instead of learning from it? Have we ever pondered that thought before? Maybe it’s time we start. If we don’t, we only have ourselves to blame.
Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!

God treated Israel differently than he treats the church. God treated Israel as an entire. He treats Christians on an individual basis and not as a nation as a whole.

@barncat did you see both AND's in there, oh, and what do you think repent means?
Interesting isn't it, that those different passages say similar things.

Thanks for the response @in-his-image I appreciate it! Have you run into this guy before? He likes to leave comments like this then he RARELY IF EVER responds to the reply left on his comment.
But it got me thinking...check out
Say what? The church was in the wilderness when they left Egypt? Yes...it was there!
The greek word in that verse is Lexicon :: Strong's G1577 - ekklēsia and is translated as "church" 115 times and "assembly" only 3 times. If the church as in the wilderness with Moses then that means that the "church" was not created after Yeshua died and rose again.
You can find more information about the word ekklēsia below.

Yes, @barncat has been taken shots here and there at people's post for awhile and not really having much to say when questioned about what his/her motivations are. As for the Greek translation I try to search for the Hebrew word to gain a better understanding of the mean which isn't always doable.
@simms50 keep studying and don't loose sight of the goal!

Thanks for the encouragement. I as well agree to use the Hebrew as much as possible but as far as I know there is no Hebrew book of Acts so that is why I had to use the Greek in this case!
Shalom!

Howdy sir simms50! There's no way I'm as stubborn as the Old Testament Jews! lol. I hope. But we better learn from their example but I don't know if we have. We seem to keep repeating history.

1 Corinthians 10:11 -- Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.
