Do Not Allow Someone's Compassion to Hinder Your Destiny Fulfilment

Text: Matthew 16:21-23

21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

In the bid to fulfilling destiny, a lot of steps have to be taken. While some of these steps are mild or normal, others are drastic or risky, but are very important in assuring you of success and fulfilment. People who are not fully aligned or who do not understand your destiny might however out of love and compassion for you, discourage you from taking those steps, which they believe are not worth it.

There is an example of this in the text of this post. Jesus Christ was destined to be die for the sins of the world, and reconcile man with his creator once and for all. Jesus understood his destiny quite well and he knew what he had to go through. It was not gonna be easy, but her was ready to pay the price. If you know anything about Jesus and his disciples, you'll know that Peter really loved Jesus and Jesus also loved Peter so much.

Out of compassion, Peter rebuked Jesus that he would not suffer and be out to death. He showed too much compassion and was probably if the opinion that "there has to be another way". Jesus who however knew the purpose of his living silenced Peter in verse 23, which is the anchor scripture here.

But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

Humanly speaking, Peter was defending his friend and his master with what he said, and even the action he later took in John 18:10. His emotions however negates the destiny of Jesus, who silenced him immediately.

Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear...

It is normal for people to be sympathetic to your course when they think you're too desperate or too dogmatic or probably too ambitious. Whatever response or action you give to this, ensure that you stay in destiny.
