"The Message" translation is a corruption of the original scriptures. You shouldn't consider it a translation nor should you even read from it. I'm OK with the NIV, the King James, NASB, etc. I don't like the Living Bible either for the same reason. Here are the first few verses from a true translation:
(Ephesians 4:1-3 NIV) As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. {2} Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. {3} Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
I've done a lot of study and the NIV is just as corrupt. All the Greek from Westcott and Hort is. So Thank you I'm aware of it. That's why we need to be led by the Spirit of truth. Nonetheless I enjoyed reading Eph 4 in the Message, Its only a paraphrase not a study bible. I'm mostly a KJV or Geneva guy as my primary texts. Blessings
