Hello All,
After the last Sabbath morning service ended, I invited my friends to grab a bite to eat.
And we took advantage of this to catch up.
You know how one thing leads to another and, at some point, someone mentioned a sensitive subject -
How can a person hear God's voice?
And from there, everyone started to speak their mind.
Now I have a question to ask you: Are you ready to listen?
To hear the voice of God is what everyone wants.
But do you know that this is not hard to do?
In fact, God wants us to hear His voice.
Hearing God's voice is as natural as hearing your best friend when he speaks to you.
Moreover, we can hear it every day and not just on special occasions or by singing special incantations.
He speaks to us in the natural moments of life.
Do you want to hear the voice of God?
Then you have to be ready to listen.
Why do you want to hear Him?
Why do you want to hear the voice of God?
This may sound like a pointless question, but motivations are important in everything we do.
The Bible says this about the Word of God:"12 For the word of God is alive and active.
Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12)
Do you want to hear the voice of God?
If your answer is ‘Yes', it is possible you already have heard Him, because He may have just given you the desire to hear Him.
Hearing the Voice of God in the Bible
In his book Knowing God, J.I Parker says: "God has spoken to man, and the Bible is His Word, given to us to make us wise unto salvation."
The Bible alone says: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1: 1) In another place we read: "16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness," (2 Timothy 3:16)
You can hear people say the Bible is just a book written by men, that the Bible alone claims to be the Word of God!
Can we trust It?
Evidence of history, archeology, prophecy, and personal testimony over thousands of years are overwhelming and prove that the Bible is truly the Word of God.
Do you want to hear the voice of God?
Then read the Bible.
Find a good daily Bible reading calendar and keep up with it.
Hearing the Voice of God through Prayer
In a normal conversation, we talk, then wait for the other person's response.
The same thing is with God!
Once we have prepared our hearts to listen through prayer, we are much closer to hearing the voice of God.
Does He speak to us in a voice that is heard?
In fact, we can't actually hear the voice of God, but He speaks to us in many ways. God speaks through:
His Word
Our thoughts
Discussions with other people
Circumstances
Hearing the Voice of God with the help of the Holy Spirit
"26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you." (John 14:26)
The second chapter of Acts describes the events that took place on the day of Pentecost, after Jesus ascended to heaven.
Verse 3 says that the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit promised by Jesus.
This third person of God did not come to them just as someone they could see and touch, but He came to live in them.
The same Spirit is at your disposal today.
Are you a Christian?
If so, then you already have the Holy Spirit.
Ask God to fill you daily with the Spirit, and He will prepare your heart to hear His voice.
His Spirit, which is that quiet voice inside of you, is the one who remembers you what God told you and helps you recognize the opportunities He gives you in your life.
God will never force you to obey Him, but He waits for your positive response to His call.
Can you hear His voice right now?
Don't allow your last answer to be the wrong one.
Therefore, next time, let me share with you a couple of extremely powerful verses that will strengthen your belief in our Lord and what Christianity and the power of God means.
Never lose faith. Godspeed.
