The Book of Enoch was well known to the Apostles and disciples of Y'shua. That is a fact. It was NOT an unimportant text. It's probably the most "Messianic" text written prior to the writings of the Apostles.

Whether one believes it to be an inspired book or not, it is still worth reading. It really is an impressive text.

Thanks for diving into the Book of Enoch Josh! Is Dr. Heiser rubbing off on you? ;-)

Yes, very much so, Mike's awesome :)

His work in the "Unseen Realm" was great. And then to follow it up with "Reversing Hermon", very nice. But I must say, the "Unseen Realm" really set's itself a part. It's like a textbook that isn't boring. His work on the Divine Council is essential.

I absolutely agree

The book of Enoch doesn't belong in the Bible. It claims to have been written by Enoch but Enoch was Cain's son. The book of Enoch was written somewhere during the intertestamental period or perhaps even later. There's no point in even looking at it.

There are two different Enochs mentioned in the Bible. As I said in the video, the point is not to read it as inspired text but instead to look at the historical value as a text that was read by first century Jews. It can help give us context into their culture. That type of study is not for everyone, but that is how I'm handling it in this series.
