"THEY HAVE ENVISIONED FUTILITY AND FALSE DIVINATION, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord!’ But the Lord has not sent them; yet they hope that the word may be confirmed."
Ezekiel 13:6 (NKJV)
Comment: Whoever is prophesying in the name of the Lord must be sure or certain that he or she is being led or moved or stirred by the Holy Spirit on the inside of him or her. A word prophesied through your human nature or mind, not stirred or prompted by the Holy Spirit of God, would not be fulfilled. What some Prophets were doing in the time of Prophet Ezekiel is being done or repeated in this contemporary Time. There are people who are going about in the name of God, prophesying, when they had not been sent by God. What they prophesy is envisioned in their minds (Ezekiel 13:2,6).
Also, there are some who prophesied through the spirit of divination (Acts 16:16). A believer in Christ Jesus should not be desperate about knowing the future or seeing into the realm of the spirit.
Whoever has come to the knowledge of Christ Jesus should endeavour to be fed with the Word of God, the Bible daily. The written Word is anointed, through it, the Holy Spirit on the inside of your spirit would speak to you (Romans 8:11,14).
Visiting the so-called prophets, or you personally agitating to see into the spiritual realm, could give a place to the devil in your life—your desperation could cause him to accommodate you (Ephesians 4:27).
Having said that, It does not mean there are no genuine prophets of God, there are. But the main assignment of the new testament prophets is not about directing people's lives with prophecies. If prophecy comes whilst ministering, good, but If It does not come, let the people be fed with the Word of God—the Bible.
The prophets who come up with futile visions and false divinations would be judged by God (Ezekiel 13:7-9). Peace.
