"THEREFORE SAY, ‘THUS SAYS THE LORD GOD: “ALTHOUGH I HAVE CAST THEM FAR OFF AMONG THE GENTILES, and although I have scattered them among the countries, YET I SHALL BE A LITTLE SANCTUARY FOR THEM in the countries where they have gone.” ’ "
Ezekiel 11:16 (NKJV)

Comment: God promises to restore Israel, be to them a little sanctuary where they had been scattered among other nations—the gentiles. God would not forget His own, He is willing to forgive any erring child of His; however, It is always better not to have offended Him to begin with.
If you missed it severally, you committed a Sin again and again, If you penitently or repentantly come to God, He will still forgive you (1 John 1:9).
However, the discipline or chastisement or correction meted out by Him is not always palatable. God would surely forgive you when you erred (1 John 1:9), but the scar; the mark or indentation, of the punishment or discipline would always be there.

When David committed adultery with Bathsheba, the Uriah's wife, he was forgiven after much pleading (1 Samuel 12:13) and the demise of the baby that was the product of the sinful act (2 Samuel 12:14-18), but the consequences of what David did linger in his family for a long time (2 Samuel 12:9-12; 13:1-18, 28,29; 15:13-18; 16:20-22).
God is plenteous in mercy, If you did commit a sin, you would be forgiven, however, the consequences of what you did might be there for you to grapple with. Thus, the admonition is, It is better not to have committed a Sin than asking for a forgiveness afterwards. Peace!
