The Intro to our series.
The reason I am doing this is because, when I first learned how to preach the gospel, I had been a believer for already for 3 years. So then I asked my self if some leaders in the church knew how, so I asked them. Everyone except the pastor did not know how to preach the gospel or fully understood it, meaning we were babes in the faith. So I embarked in a discipleship program to teach them how to preach the gospel.
So what is the gospel?
First, the word gospel means good news.
Good news of what?
The Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Why is it good news?
Because we have sinned against God, and have been separated from God. This sins has a consequence, a wage, death.
this death is not a carnal, but a spiritual one; We need to remember that God told Adam and Eve that if they eat
from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, they would surely die. Did they die there? No, but it was a spiritual
death, thus breaking the relationship they had with God. And if we die in our sins, we will end up in
hell; a place of torment.
But God loves us so much, that he wants a relationship with us, and have eternal life. Thus he sent his
son Jesus Christ to die for our sins, to pay our wage we could never pay. And if you believe/put your faith in
Christ, that he died for our sins, was buried and then rose from the dead three days later, you will be
saved. John 3:16- For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in
Him should not perish but have everlasting life. That's the good news, we have a Savior, a Redeemer.
This is an outline, you don't have to follow it exactly, but just to start somewhere:
when I teach how to preach, I break it down like this to make it simple; into two categories;
Repent
&
Believe
- Repent.
Repent from what?
From our sins.
Why repent from our sins?
Because our sins leads to death; into hell.
But God Love us so much that..
- Believe
Believe in who?
Jesus Christ.
Why believe in Jesus Christ?
Because He had paid for our sins on the cross, thus you'll shall be saved.
It's that simple. We will go in to depth to understand the gospel. Because we need to preach something we understand and truly believe. Also by understanding these fundamental truth that are embedded in the gospel, we will have a foundation that will help us study the Bible in a more understanding way.
What will we be these fundamental truth?
Ephesians 2: 8-9--For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; its is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
- The Doctrine of Grace
- The Doctrine of Faith
- The Doctrine of One God and the Trinity
- The Doctrine of the deity of Christ and His resurrection
so lets: 1 Peter 3:15-- But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.
May the Lord increase our understanding of Him and his word. may the glory be to God forever and ever. Amen
