If you already have a tarot deck- Great !

If you haven't, and need some advice on finding the right deck then read on.

But first of all I'd like to look at syncing our mindsets to our decks.

Syncing self to tarot deck

That might sound a little out there, but it's not, as you get to know me you will understand I am not a 'fluffy' type of person. I'm not talking about selling your soul to the devil, I  just want you to connect with your cards so they become second nature.

I am a little quirky though, so you have been warned. I have a very creative streak and will probably give you wacky tasks. But it will be worth it if you get to understand and become a wonderful tarot reader!

Before I carry on with 'syncing' I want to share some tarot myths. To me it is very much poppycock, but you may agree with some of it. I believe in none of it in fairness but each to their own!

  • You shouldn't let anyone touch your cards as they can pick up bad energy.
  • Tarots cards is another way of channelling the devil
  • They should always be wrapped in silk
  • You shouldn't buy your own cards
  • You can only read cards if you are psychic
  • Reversed cards mean disaster
  • You shouldn't let cats near your cards
  • You need the right Tarot spread to read the cards

Now we have cleared that up, I will go back to subheading- Syncing!

So, back to syncing. Imagine you are trying to bluetooth your phone to a new speaker. If you have hundreds of speakers in the same room, your phone won't know the bluetooth name of the speaker unless he reads the manual or examines it. Also, at times, the bluetooth gets disconnected and you have to 'reconnect'.

Now I am not saying read your tarot book, you can if you like, but I'd rather you just 'examine' it. I want you to understand your cards. It will take a while to really absorb the info (I'm guessing around 34 weeks haha!) but to sync yourself to your deck, I want you to try the following.

Lay down each card in front of you and look at it for a couple of seconds. Turn over every single card and repeat every day, Your repetitiveness will help you to remember them visibly. Some believe that if you tap the card with your left knuckle then touch each card, that gives the light connection.

Remember I'm not that fluffy, I'm just here to teach you how to understand and read the cards.

Choosing your cards

They do say you shouldn't by your own cards, I don't believe that, but it you do have that belief then you could get someone else to order/buy them for you so you don't know what you will receive.

My favourite ones are by Fergus hall, just because of the quirkiness, simplicity and bright colours. I have also drawn my own cards as a way of embracing the characteristics of each card. There are so many sets in this day an age, explore and have fun with your purchase!

Today's Tasks:

  • Comment with any tarot myths/beliefs
  • 'Sync' with your cards, if you have them or source them
  • Rope your friends in to join the course

That's all for today

I've also heard that you should never do tarot for yourself, and that you are supposed to STEAL your tarot cards.
Both of these are, of course, ridiculous.

Yes good point about reading for yourself. Not heard the stealing one haha...a little bit on the edge for me!
