My BEST GIFT This Christmas!

in christmaspresent •  7 years ago  (edited)

This is the closest I can get to a photo of my favorite gift this year, and no, breakfast was not THAT fabulous...

We were "granny and grandpa" and went to both of our kids' homes, and got hugs from our kids and grandkids and gave them gifts and they gave us gifts then WE WENT HOME to a clean house... :) That was pretty cool!
Between one child's home and the next, we stopped for breakfast. As we sat down, a table across from us was just finishing up. A LARGE family, and they sort of had "that look." They were not enjoying a "day off cooking" like myself, they looked like SOMETHING went wrong and they were out buying breakfast they probably could not really afford...

So we got to sit there and watch their faces as the waitress informed them that some random stranger had bought their breakfast. (It was not us, we had JUST sat down.) It did make me cry just a little though... There is still a LOT of love in this world! Witnessing it was the BEST GIFT!

Thank you for sharing this beautiful story with us. This is definitely #thegoodnews I love stories like this. Twice I've heard the mysterious bill payer story this week (not the same one of course) but I always enjoy it. I think I will buy the car behind me their order tomorrow at Tim Hortons drive though just because of this. )

I've heard the stories, never witnessed it before. Although... I was a waitress, pregnant with #2 when husband brought baby #1 in to see me. He sat down, said "Bring us a butterhorn to split, we are too poor for a whole one." He just has that dry sense of humor... So I just rolled my eyes at him and got him his butterhorn. Pretty soon another customer comes to the till to pay and tries to give me money to buy that poor man and his baby dinner... It was SO sweet, and they were no doubt stunned when I laughed, but soon we all had a good laugh and for once my goofy husband was just a little embarrassed by his own antics.

Hahahah too funny. Yes I bet he was a little embarrassed by that. Beautiful to see that one of the customers was willing to buy him and the baby some supper though. :)

little act of kindness that makes the world goes round.....

Am I right when I think that the visit to your kids was not that happy? Did you enjoy your breakfast? What a heartwarming story that strangers paid the bill for this family, I hoped they felt the Christmas feeling behind that! thank you very much for your entree the second of January you find out who won. Good luck !

Oh, NO! We had a WONDERFUL time with the kids! And yes, my husband and I just reveled in being grandparents that day! Hugs, kisses, gifts, much love, then let my kids clean up the mess? What is not to love lol! And we live in the boondocks. Being able to go out to breakfast on a holiday is a big deal for us, so yes, it was a blast! Truly, best Christmas I have had in years!

fantastic! warm feelings, nice !
