At least since 1262 (first documented mention) existed a church that was destroyed in the city fire in 1634. The successor building was only a few decades - he burnt down in 1692. In both destructions, however, the choir from the 15th century remained intact. The rebuilding of the church was probably done too hastily - during the 18th century
always necessary repairs. By the middle of the 19th century, the decline was unstoppable, a new building had become inevitable. Finally, in 1884 could be started with the fundamental renovation. On October 7, 1888, the new church was inaugurated.
The Protestant town church is a neo-Gothic church of the 19th century with some older parts. Inside, the crucifix from 1655 and the stained glass windows in the late Gothic choir from the 19th and 20th centuries impress. Noteworthy is the stone tablet on the right side of the southern entrance. Surprisingly, it survived the destruction, burning and demolition of the church, reminiscent of a renovation by the well-known Calvin Dean, Johann Valentin Andreä, in 1627.
