Oppenheimer needs to be seen on IMAX 15/70

So, tonight I got to interact with couple of people who I've bonded with online for a few years who turned out to be cooler in person, and a few brand new faces.

This was a diverse group but for philosophy -- it was a small bunch of libertarians.

Still, this was in the context of seeing Oppenheimer on 15/70.

A lot of people in the group were particularly into movies, a few seemed to be more casual about movies. Some had never seen an IMAX movie. I'm under the impression that few had seen an IMAX movie on proper 70mm film.

It was a genuine, unanimous rave across the board that it was simply a better, higher quality experience than what they're used to.

It should go without saying that I received a few dozen questions that lead to technical answers; but, that's not what really matters. The point isn't that they know how this format performs how it does, or why it's special -- the important thing is that they know that it's special.

This is the same thing that I've been saying for more than a decade now whenever people try to make arguments about how audiences won't understand that you chose the more cumbersome, complicated option for artistic reasons.

It's not their job to understand it. That's my job. It's their job to experience it. They do get the experience whether or not they understand how the damn thing works.
