Despicable Me: Good Children moviesteemCreated with Sketch.

Before the woke virus contaminated cinema, movies aimed at children were much simpler. Despicable Me is probably its best example: nothing serious, easy humor and fun times.

Gru is a supervilain looking for his next big hit. And since he has a lot of competition (Vector) whose financing is pretty much assured (by his dad, a banker for supervilains), he aims big: the Moon. This way, he might please his mother, who never seemed to care for him. But 3 young orphans will change him... a little.

When watching this movie, just turn your brain off and enjoy simple entertainment. Especially when the Minions are around. Their jibberish language will please your children (especially with their banana "fantasies" and blowing raspberries) and they tend to be comical too.

However, I found it interesting that it dealt with more serious issues like cronyism (Vector) and adoption. That system is highly flawed, and one has to wonder how some children end up with such bad parents...

In short, Despicable Me is good (nearly) mindless entertainment. The plot is simple, the humor is clean yet enjoyable and the supervilain does get an interesting arch.
