"Sequels" to popular movies are not a new thing. And just like nowadays, they are usually far inferior - even when the original movie wasn't that good anyway. Grease 2 certainly fits that category.
Another year at Rydell has begun. New students, but the gangs (like the Pink Ladies) are back. There is also a new (male) exchange student, who also falls in love with a local student, but she's more into tough guys. That will change...
While the movie might have made a good (Broadway) musical, its movie form is just bad. Even the height of musicals in the 50s didn't try to over do it with the choreographies - it almost looked like ballet at some point.
As for the "plot", it's basically a re-hash of the first one with a reversal of the sexes: the girl (Michelle Pfiffer) is the one who wants a leather-clad boyfriend, which she did before the movie started. So, of course, the exchange student will get himself a motorcycle (and a pair of googles to stay "anonymous) and do all sorts of unrealistic cascades to impress everyone.
In short, skip this "sequel." While not that interesting, at least the original had some memorable songs.
