Cineplex Reserving Seats Stinks When Trying to Use Admit One Tickets for Star Wars

I went out with the family last Saturday to try and see the new Star Wars.

I had Cineplex tickets already purchased to watch the movie.

We got to the theatre and tried to use the tickets and was shown this:

The lady at the counter said: "Pick your seats".

I took at look at the floorplan and saw that the only seats available were in the front row which are generally the most uncomfortable as you would have to crane your neck backwards for 2.5 hours. The front is also where many of the speakers are located which is not good for someone with ASD. I knew that my son would not have a pleasurable experience even while wearing noise-cancelling headphones.

So I said to the lady at the ticket counter "What seats? When did this start for regular movies?"

Now, I know that people were paying extra for premium seating, 3D & IMAX options but 2D general admissions were not included. I have used regular admission tickets before and was able to get in without any issues.

This time though, both myself and the family had to leave without watching the movie. After getting home, I looked at a few articles about the general admission reserved seating which was brought in specially for Star Wars.

One of the article headlines made it sound like a really great thing:

You Can Now Reserve Your Seat At Cineplex For Just $1 Across Canada. It's not just a VIP/ IMAX luxury anymore

Well, I didn't think it was a great thing. Whereas it's true that I could see Star Wars by either buying the tickets online or waiting until later to see the movie, I don't understand why I was being inconvenienced when I already had tickets. Tickets that are unfortunately not redeemable online but only in the theatre. By the time you get to the theatre, the seats are all gone with the exception of the front row which no one ever wants.

I refuse to buy additional tickets online, just due to the principle of the issue.

So what I am doing now is checking seat availability so I will go when I see that a Star Wars movie showing has room.

Hopefully, myself and the family will get to see the movie soon.

Consider me as unimpressed Cineplex.
