A Thriving, Livable, and Colorful Metropolis … Singapore – CityScape Photography

in cityscapephotography •  6 years ago  (edited)

This snapshot gives a good impression of the thriving and very livable metropolis of Singapore.

(Full-size photo below)

Blue skies above

For one thing, it’s clean and bright. The sky is blue, and the clouds are white – y’know, the way they’re supposed to be.*

Home and office below

Sprouting into the bright skies are plenty of office towers, apartment blocks, and condos – providing the residents with comfortable and efficient places to live and work.

Color all around

One simple but positive and very pleasant feature of Singapore is the way the facades of all the apartment blocks and condos are painted in a 2-tone or even 3-tone color scheme. As you can see in the photo, the block in the foreground has a beige coloring, with yellow and rust-color accents.

While most other cities, or portions thereof, suffer the blight of miles and miles of dull grey concrete housing blocks, you’ll never see such depressing sights in Singapore. Color schemes such as the one in the photo are typical of virtually all the residence towers in the city-state.    [Right-Click Here to Enlarge Photo] * I’ve lived in a few other countries where the clouds were not very clean and not very white. In fact, when the sunset bathed those polluted clouds in light, the color of those clouds would often turn a strange, otherworldly purple, or sometimes even a murky brown.

In Singapore, the clouds are always white in the sunshine, and almost always natural yellow or orange during golden hour.

Hi @majes.tytyty,

I agree about the colorful buildings in Singapore. That really stood out to me on my short trip. I will do it again in 90 days and hope I can have longer visit and see more while there. I really liked the trip and the city, so I hope a repeat will be even better.

I'm back for another Q contest. This time my son got nominated with his awesome flower shot for photo friday. I don't remember if I answered you before, but yes, you only need to upvote this comment with 1% to make your vote count. The original post is not involved, and thank you so much for the support on that already.

I hope you are doing well up there. I am supposed to go to dinner with friends and I am now waiting for the "all clear." We just had one of those 30 minute storms from nowhere on a beautiful hot day. It should be over soon and I will be eating some yummy street food.

All's well here. I'm in the countryside, about 2 hours south of Chiang Mai now, visiting a friend. It's supremely peaceful, with all sorts of different birds chirping and cooing and warbling outside the window. Nice.

I'm glad you enjoyed your Singapore trip. Another of my friends from CM just went there for the first time, and he thoroughly enjoyed it

I hope you had a great dinner. I'll head over and give your comment an upvote.

Cheers, and all the best.

Thank you so much! This is a more competitive contest, so I hope he gets it. I've been looking at my old videos from the peaceful country in Northern Thailand a few years ago. I am jealous of you!

You and your son are always welcome! I hope he gets it, too.

I just returned to CM after 2.5 days in the countryside. I'm jealous of my friend, who lives in a tiny, quiet village. From the time one wakes up to the time s/he goes to sleep, s/he can enjoy a blissfully peaceful environment. Quite different from city life. Oh, and sleeping time is pretty blissful, too. :-)

The second morning, I was invited along with my friends to the wedding of a local couple. (The groom was the son of a colleague of the girlfriend of my friend!!)

I did not know anyone besides my friend and his girlfriend, but by the time I left, it seems that I had become friends with half the townsfolk.

Aw! I miss Thailand. Everyone is a friend there.

Here I am moving on Thursday because the landlord "doesn't want me here." This is the full reason I am leaving. She is incensed just to see me in the common area working and slamming doors on her way in and out. It is quite stressful at the moment, but I persevere.

The new place is in the same condo complex and I have high hopes!

All the best in your new place. Hope you can avoid the previous landlady.

Haha! I probably will not see her. This is a very large place and I will be at the far end and not on her schedule.

Need more photos of Singapore!

Singapore is the worth seeing places in the world. It is incredibly managed city in the world as well. Full of skyscrapers, business hub. One of the key thing of such cities you can find most of the ethnicities. Singapore accommodates everyone. Thank you for sharing such an elaborated post @majes.tytyty

Wow! I love this shot.

Singapore must be a wonderful city/country.

It's quite the impressive city-state!

Great photo. I did not think that Singapore is such a clean city.

It is!! It's remarkably clean, and very green too. It's definitely the cleanest, greenest, safest, and most well-developed city on the planet. Maybe in the entire universe!!

Haha

Seems like someone is in love

Yes, it's true.
