Pro-life activist Amy Hedtke was just arrested at the state capitol for attempting to record a committee meeting on an abortion bill in the Texas House

in civilrights •  8 years ago

A pro life civil activist was forcibly handcuffed and dragged from a public hearing on abortion for recording the proceedings. She has been arrested and detained and needs help getting released.
There is no law that prevents a legal citizen from attending and recording the public proceedings taking place in a public place, and this woman should be immediately released and sue for damages.
DPS officers dragged her out of the meeting and out of the building in handcuffs (literally, she was limp) as she calmly recited verbatim and cited the law to them that is supposed to allow her to record the meeting. Please call DPS and demand her release. This is not supposed to be a police state. Call Capitol DPS and tell them to let her go! Captain Admin Linda Ridley 512-463-6481 Email [email protected]

Dear Mrs. Ridley,

It has come to the attention of the citizen press corp, that a woman was forcibly removed, arrested and detained for exercising her Constitutional right to observe and record a PUBLIC MEETING in a PUBLIC OFFICE, regarding PUBLIC AFFAIRS.
This is not a police state and We the people demand to know what our government does behind closed doors.
We respectfully ask that you please give us the law Ms. Hedtke broke by recording a public hearing, or release her immediately.
If you can shed any more information on this case I would be happy to report the opposed parties side.

Sincerely,
R. Mason
Citizen Press Corp
