Imagine you're in a class and the entire class is given an assignment. The teacher says that in order to pass the class you must all sign an agreement to help reach her goal. The teacher claims that her classroom is slowly being destroyed by her students year after year. It's apparent that her classroom is old and has wear, so the students all agree to sign her agreement. Instead of giving all the students the same agreement to sign, she individualizes each student's agreement. The most destructive students were given agreements that doesn't require them to do anything differently, in fact when they sign the agreement the teacher promises to give those hyperactive students money. The wealthiest and modestly destructive student was given an agreement that said he would have to give a giant chunk of his money to the teacher to do with what she pleased. Upon reading the fine print of the agreement he realizes that no only would he have to give her money, he would have to walk barefoot in class everyday and he would have to tell his family that they could no longer wear shoes to work, causing some of them to lose their jobs. When the wealthy student tells the teacher he's not going to sign the agreement she shames him in front of her entire classroom.
