Sandstorms could occur more frequently in the USA

US researchers warn of an increase in sand storms in certain areas of the United States.

The scientists are based on a new model, which they presented in the "Scientific Reports". It is used to predict sand storms in the wake of climate changes. The results suggest that heavy sand storms in the southern part of the Great Plains in the middle of the US will increase in the second half of the 21st century. The reasons for this are, among other things, lower precipitation and higher wind speeds on the ground.
For the north of the Great Plains, however, the results point to fewer sand storms. The model uses satellite data, such as dust particles and the density of vegetation.
