If I was a Trump supporter, here's how I suppose I'd read the calamitous report that scientists leaked to the NYT (because of fears that the Trump administration would suppress it).
"More liberal coastal claptrap trying to tell me how to live my life"
"What does this have to do with the fact that white straight people are under siege?"
"Pollution is a necessary byproduct of a successful economy"
"La la la la not listening la la la la"
"The anchor on Fox News interviewed one scientist who said it's all just BS. Why shouldn't I believe him/her?"
"This is just another leak to fake news outlets aimed at hurting President Trump"
"I read some of it. But I still trust our President over these left-wing scientists"
I remember one feminist said of anti-female-activist Phyllis Schlafly, "the only real way to argue with her is to jump up and down screaming 'liar! Liar! Liar!'"
That's kinda where we are today with supporters of the President. But hey, we all kinda assume the worst about our political adversaries right?
Still, the comments in the Times include several who say the NYT is not to be trusted because they're publishing a report by scientists, deathly afraid (with good reason) the Trump administration will shred and suppress it. Huh?
If you haven't had the opportunity to read the report, go here:
It's monumentally frightening.
