王守仁5岁仍不会说话，但已默记祖父所读过的书。有一高僧过其家，摸着他的头说“好个孩儿，可惜道破。”祖父根据《论语·卫灵公》所云“知及之，仁不能守之，虽得之，必失之”，为他改名为“守仁”，随后他就开口说话了。
