Hi.
My name is Luke & I'm new to the community.
I thought I'd share some knowledge about coffee.
()
Ive been in hospitality for over 30 years.
It seems these days EVERYTHING is so overanalysed, & theres a whole procession in the preparation of something to the point that it feels like the world will stop spinning if one step is missed..... UGH!!!
Lets go back to the basics...
Here's how to know EXACTLY how your coffee is going to taste.
We all have one of these...
STEP 1: Put 4 or 5 coffee beans of the coffee you are about to select in the palm of your hand (if its more than one kind of bean then put the different beans in the same proportions together. ie: if you intend to blend 25% of one bean to 75% another bean then put one of the 25% beans to three of the 75% beans).
STEP 2: Bring your hand up to your nose and take a 3 or 4 deep long sniffs.
STEP 3: There is no step 3. That's it!!
What you smell is exactly what you will be tasting.
This technique is great when selecting your beans from coffee houses or seeing if a Cafes coffee is worth drinking. Not so easy in supermarkets, But if the brand is sold in coffee houses you can always find out there.
Hope my post has helped
